Vision: Incredible performances on and off the field Our Mission: To lead, inspire and deliver football in New Zealand Our Values: Unity, Pride, passion, Respect Community Strategic Outcome: More New Zealander's playing and loving football Waikato Bay of Plenty Football (WaiBOP Football) is the trading name for the ‘No 3 District Federation of NZ Soccer Incorporated’ and covers the wider Waikato and Bay of Plenty regions. The Federation organises and coordinates several key elements of the game including; governance of football across the region, competitions, player and coach development, club support and data management, and referee development. WaiBOP Football operates with 14 staff located at various locations across the region with the main office based in Hamilton. We are a small part of a global sport, and we operate in a competitive sport and recreational environment in New Zealand where football is not the national game. The key building blocks that our strategic plan inherits, and plans forward from are; The Whole of Football Plan Beyond Football Plan The community outcomes are as follows: Participation in men’s football, traditional format, increases from 90,000 to 96,000 by 2020 Participation in women’s football, traditional format, increases from 27,000 to 30,000 by 2020 Participation across lifestyle football formats, increases from 18,000 to 27,000 by 2020 Invest in Youth Football as a growth vehicle for men’s and women’s traditional football. WaiBOP Football | 2017 2 Job Purpose To oversee the strategic direction and organisational operations of Waikato Bay of Plenty Football Federation (WaiBOP Football) aligning to the Football In New Zealand Strategic Plan (2016 – 2025), WaiBOP Football Strategic Plan (2018- 2021) and delivering on the Federation’s annual business objectives. Responsible to The Chief Executive Officer will be responsible to the WaiBOP Football Board of Directors. Day to day relationship will be with the Chairperson of the Board Key Relationships To liaise with NZ Football Chief Executive and staff as well as other Federation Chief Executives to coordinate the national alignment of football delivery. To work with Football Clubs within the region in the establishment and maintaining of positive relationships. Develop and manage effective relationships with the Regional Sports Trusts in the region Establish and manage Local council, land and venue owners for maximising the use of facilities. Promote football in a positive manner across the array of commercial, community and media partners and organisations within the region. Develop effective internal relationships with the Federation team to provide a consistent high quality provision of service. Duties and Responsibilities Key duties and responsibilities include; Strategic planning – Aligning with the Football in New Zealand Strategic Plan 2016-2025, development of and the implementation of the WaiBOP Football Strategic Planning processes along with the annual business plan. Leadership - provide confident and strong leadership, direction and support to staff, the Board and to football clubs and stakeholders to achieve the business objectives. Relationships - Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with key footballing stakeholders across the broad spectrum of the footballing community. Organisational - Overall responsibility for business operations of the Federation with a sustainable financial performance. Seeking continuous improvements in systems and processes to ensure efficient and effective delivery and managing staff to delivery services in a positive environment. Football - Oversee the technical strategies, programming and delivery for the community aspects of the game, including the development of coaches, referees and players. WaiBOP Football | 2017 3 Communication- maintain good communication to the football stakeholders, emphasing the value of the Federation and its programmes, to the non-football community to increase the positive awareness of football and internally to the staff for transparency and consistency of delivery Capacity building – of clubs and schools to become sustainable, well managed and enjoyable places where people can play and engage in football. Champion facility improvements and developments and ensure the organisation has a strong development and redundancy plan for maintaining the business. Reporting - provide accurate and timely management information and reports to the WaiBOP Football Board, New Zealand football and staff to support the achievement organisational objectives and policies. Qualifications and Experience A tertiary qualification in business, finance and/or sports management At least 10-years’ experience in senior management of similar organisations Proven experience in organisation leadership, staff management, business systems and innovation. Preferred to have knowledge of the sport of football as well as of the region Demonstrable financial management skills Personal Attributes Strong attributes in the following areas; Leadership both internally and externally Integrity Relationship management Confidence in his or her abilities Personable Consistent in thinking and delivery Progressive and willing to make changes Good communicator Working Conditions This position is expected to be based in Hamilton and is 70% office bound with the other 30% out and about, meeting club contacts and other external stakeholders, visiting games and NZ Football. It is expected that there will be regional travel on a regular basis While the job is based around a 40 hour week, there will be evening and weekend work from on a regular basis WaiBOP Football | 2017 4
