Greetings fellow Hog-Skinners! This year marks the 26th
anniversary of Hogskin Holidays. We are very excited about what this
year has to offer thus far. Right now, many things are in the works
and we can promise that this is going to be the best year yet with your
help.
With that being said, I am asking for your participation in our
Hogskin Parade this year. Last year was great! However, we want this
year to be even better! So let’s think. How can YOU get involved?
School:
P-6th Grade
We would like for the parents to get involved and help their
child’s class with a float. The children can ride on the float but will
need to be accompanied by several adults. We want your students to
be creative. Think outside the box. Ask your students what Hogskin
means to them. Incorporate their ideas into a float. We are not asking
that you go all out. However, we are asking you to get involved and
show your Hogskin spirit. In order to win, you MUST have a pig on the
float!
Prize: The class that wins the category P-6th Grade category will win a
pizza party!
Students:
We are allowing students to ride their bikes as long as an adult
accompanies them. We want the students to decorate their bikes
according to the theme and they can even dress up themselves. We
want as much Hogskin Spirit shown as possible! The bike MUST have
pig on the bike somewhere.
7th-12th Grade
Many of you are involved in school clubs and activities. With that
being said, we are asking that you and your club, sport, group
(student counsel, class officers, etc.) get involved and make a float.
You DO NOT have to ride on the float. BETA club, show off your
campaign for 2017. EAST, show off some of your projects and relate
them to Hogskin. FBLA, Bulldog Buddies, Athletics, etc. Put together a
Float and relate it to Hogskin.
Businesses:
Have you ever thought that Hogskin Holidays is a great way to
advertise for your business? Well it is! Make a float advertising your
business and relate it to Hogskin Holiday’s. We are not asking that you
go all out. However, we are asking that you show your Hogskin spirit.
Decorate your windows outside your business as well. Help us to make
this Hogskin the best yet!
Churches:
Have you thought about spreading the word of God and
witnessing to people through a float? Well you can! Again, all we are
asking is that you tie in the theme to Hogskin. You MUST have a pig
on the float in order to win!
Politicians:
The Hogskin Holidays parade is a great way to get your name
out there! You can make a float or you can ride on a vehicle. Yet
again, we ask that you too, show your Hogskin spirit along with your
campaign. Let the people in the community know that you are here
and working for them. Let them see you involved within the
community and doing work here.
Beauty Contestants:
Riding on a car is great. However, let’s get excited and show
some Hogskin spirit. Decorate your car or dress up to the theme of
Hogskin.
Rules and Guidelines for floats:


The parade will begin at 2 pm. Trailer size for floats must be a
minimum of 4x8 to be judged.
All entries must be in line at 1pm. Floats must be decorated
using the theme Hogskin Holidays or pigs.
You must to be in line at 1:00 P.M. on the street going into the
Calhoun County Nutrition Center (Please enter on the Tinsman
Highway. You will NOT be allowed to enter the road to the
Nutrition Center. It will be an exit ONLY!)



Registration forms must be turned in to receive a number.
Entries will not be judged without a number.
Deadline for entry is April 5, 2017. For more information you

Prizes for floats:
1st place- $250.00, 2nd place-$200.00, 3rd place-$150.00
Some ideas: Used recycled material to fix up your float. The theme
is, Pig Pickin’ Fun. Think out side the box.

The parade will begin at 2 pm. Trailer size must be a minimum of 4 X
8 to be judged. All entries must be in line at 1 pm. This year, as in
the past years, floats must be decorated using pigs as the theme.
The prizes are as follows: Floats- 1st place- $250.00, 2nd place$200.00, 3rd place- $150.00, 4th place- $100.00 and 5th place- $75.00.
Elementary- Grade that wins, gets a pizza party.
All 4-wheelers and side by sides must ride in one group but they have
to be decorated with the theme of Hogskin. All 4-wheelers are
meeting between the funeral home and the pharmacy and unload and
will be escorted to pre-stress. You also need to see Zach or Christel
in order to get a ticket saying that you are in the parade. You will also
get off there after the parade. If you are caught riding around town
after the parade, you will be fined by the city cops. Also, if you are
caught acting up in the parade, you will also be fined.
