Office of Undergraduate Admissions Academic Fresh Start Program Under the provisions of the Texas Education Code, Section 51.931, a Texas resident may elect to have all academic course work earned 10 or more years prior to the requested enrollment date ignored for undergraduate admission purposes. The following description of the Academic Fresh Start Program should be read carefully. Be sure you understand the terms of this program and agree to its stipulations before signing. Upon receipt of this signed agreement, your application for admission and all supporting documents, you will be considered for admission for the semester or summer session you choose under the provisions of the Academic Fresh Start Program pursuant to TEC Section 51.931. The Academic Fresh Start Program is available to Texas residents who have applied to Texas State University with all the necessary credentials and agreement submitted to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions by the appropriate deadline: Freshman Transfers (1-29 hours) Transfers (30+ hours) FALL SPRING SUMMER I May 1 July 15 July 15 November 15 November 15 November 15 May 1 May 1 May 1 SUMMER II May 1 June 15 June 15 If you request this admission option by signing the Academic Fresh Start agreement, all academic work (including any Texas State course work) that was earned 10 or more years prior to the starting date of the semester in which you seek to enroll will not be considered in determining your eligibility for admission. For proper course placement, the Texas Success Initiative requires an assessment prior to your first enrollment in classes. Former students who wish to reenter Texas State under the Academic Fresh Start Program must meet current admission requirements. Course work (either from Texas State or elsewhere) ignored for admission purposes will remain on the student’s official Texas State academic transcript. However, it cannot be used to fulfill Texas State degree or prerequisite requirements. All coursework on the transcript will count towards satisfactory academic progress for financial aid recipients.
