EXHIBITION: « ANALYSING CUBISM »

Analysing Cubism explores the early decades of
Cubism and features the work of such celebrated
Cubist artists as Albert Gleizes, Evie Hone and
Mainie Jellett. The exhibition looks at the work of a number
of pioneering Irish artists who travelled to France and
further afield to study modern art.
Analysing Cubism is presented as part of the programme of
visual arts events celebrating Ireland’s Presidency of the
European Union and is supported by the Department of
Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, the French Embassy in
Ireland and The Irish Times.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a series of free talk
and lectures

FRANCOPHONIE ONLINE QUIZ

In the framework of the Francophonie events to celebrate French language and
cultural diversity, the Cultural Service of the French Embassy and the Alliance
Française in Dublin organise the Francophonie Online Quiz for primary and
secondary schools.
The theme of the contest is Discover Francophonie and test your skills in French
language!. The quiz will be online only on February 27th from 9.30 am to 4 pm.
The contest will be available at 2 different levels: Primary 5th and 6th
Class / Secondary 1st and 2nd Year.

artists Zineb Sedira & Amina Menia to this exhibition.
Curated by Caroline Hancock, these artists create their individual
installations to deal with the fragility of history and identity in the context
of contemporary Algeria.

LAB CITOYEN WRITING CONTEST
REGISTRATION DEADLINE 25 MARCH 2013
Lab Citoyen is a new programme managed both by the Cultural Service of the French
Embassy in Ireland and the Institut Français in Paris. Taking over from the Allons en
France contest, it mainly focuses on the human rights matters, the theme of this year
being : « The Human Rights in the XXIrst century, getting committed for
tomorrow ».
The Cultural Service will select a young Irish citizen from 18 to 25 of age, with a good
proficiency in French (B1 level required), to participate in a 10 days cultural stay in
France, from July 6th to July 16th, all inclusive.

"1689 - 2012, THE IRISH & FRANCE: THREE CENTURIES OF MILITARY RELATIONS"

As part of Ireland’s 2013 EU Presidency Cultural Programme, the French
Embassy in association with the National Museum of Ireland is delighted to
present "1689 - 2012, The Irish & France: Three Centuries of military
relations", an exhibition produced by the Musée de l’Armée (Army Museum,
Paris).
This exhibition shows Irish and French military cooperation since the 17th
century. From the "Wild Geese" to the First World War to Samuel Beckett's time
in the French resistance, it retraces the history of the close relations between the
Irish and France.

The new recruitment campaign for the teaching assistantship positions in
France is now opened.
This scheme is aimed at students who are aged between 20 and 35, who
have completed at least two years of higher education in modern languages by
the time they take up their post and who have a working knowledge of the French
language.
The assistantship is a unique opportunity for the students to be immersed in a
specific culture with a stipend, to improve their language skills with natives and
to figure out if they are made for teaching in privileged conditions.

AN IRISH STUDENT

FESTIVAL

AUDIOVISUAL PROGRAMS 2013
The Cultural Service is pleased to announce that, thanks to its support, an Irish student
has been selected to be part of the European Jury of the International Festival of
Audiovisual Programs, which took place in Biarritz, in the south west of France, last
January.
This festival aims each year to celebrate creative and innovative TV programs,
through a wide range of genres, and to favour professional gatherings.
In the framework of the festival, 13 students from the European Union had the opportunity
to watch programs, to debate in French about them and eventually to award a price to the
best documentary they have seen."
