Duel Volleyball Club Rules and Regulations:
The following rules and regulations are what are expected from all club members regardless of age level.
These rules are in addition to any and all rules set forth by USA Volleyball and Arizona Region.
1. If you must miss a session you should notify your coach as soon as possible prior to that practice.
All coach email addresses and phone numbers will be handed out at Duel Volleyball’s first team
meeting.
2. If you must miss a tournament you should notify your coach as soon as possible prior to that
tournament. All coach email addresses and phone numbers will be handed out at Duel
Volleyball’s first team meeting.
3. Club members should arrive 15 minutes prior to practice to ensure they are ready once practice
begins.
4. Arrive on site one hour prior to tournament start time.
5. Rides should be at the gym no later than 5 minutes after the scheduled conclusion of practice.
6. Due to liability issues, parents and/or club member guests are not permitted to participate in
practice, unless Director's approval has been given and USA membership as been attained.
7. For tournaments, Club members should always have their uniform clean and available, have
their hair pulled back, and wear knee pads and athletic shoes.
8. Hydration is extremely important to the health of our athletes. Club members should each bring
a water bottle to each practice, and must hydrate prior to practice, tournaments and during
water breaks.
9. Club members and their parents should conduct themselves in a manner that is not only
becoming to themselves but as representatives of Duel Volleyball. The way we talk, the way we
dress, the way we play – all affects the way people view our club. Strive to present the most
positive image possible when at tournaments and at practice. Any inappropriate behavior will
be handled on a case by case basis, with suspension from the club as an option if actions
warrant, which does not waive your financial obligation.
10. Duel Volleyball Club has a no-tolerance policy in regards to illegal drugs, tobacco and alcohol for
its members.
11. Players must remain at the tournament until dismissed by the coach. This especially includes
when a team must ref the final match of the day. ALL players must remain at the gym until the
assignment is complete.
12. All jewelry is to be removed prior to practice or tournaments.
13. In cases where a player is injured, she is still allowed to attend practice. However, the athlete
will not be allowed to participate in the physical part of the training, but can participate in the
"mental" side of the training.
14. Playing time will not be discussed with parents at a tournament or during practice. You should
make an appointment where the two of you can talk at an appropriate time. Playing time is at
the complete discretion of the coach, and is based on a number of factors including but not
limited to performance in practice, games, etc. Opportunities are always given at practice, which
is where the majority of the athletes’ learning takes place. Coaches will be required to make all
efforts to distribute playing time equitably (this does not mean equally). Please talk over the
playing time policy with your child and make sure to make the proper decision for them.
Coaching Philosophy:
Our philosophy at Duel Volleyball is Character is greater than the Process which is greater than Results,
our goal is to build character (discipline, attitude, trustworthiness…etc.) through positive coaching in our
athletes which will help them fall in love with the process of maximizing their potential. Results are a
natural end result of this philosophy. It’s a very intrinsic methodology in a culture where everyone gets a
trophy. The reward of working hard with a positive attitude is improvement and therefore ultimate
success.
Playtime Philosophy:
Duel Volleyball’s philosophy regarding playtime is that decisions about playing time are at the sole
discretion of the coaching staff. However we believe athletes benefit by in-game experience and
therefore we encourage our coaches to play every athlete in every tournament. Younger athletes (U14
and under), assuming they are attending practice regularly with a good attitude can expect to play some
each match while older athletes (U16 and above) begin to specialize in position and grow more
competitive may see less play time. Playtime will vary based on a number of factors such as age level,
competitiveness of the team, position, attitude, skill and number of practices attended to name a few.
The majority of Duel Volleyball’s coaching staff is current or formers players who are very aware of
playtime. Parents need to be aware that on a team of 12 athletes, 50% of the team will be sitting at any
given time.
Parent and Player Code of Conduct:
Youth sports programs play an important role in promoting the physical, social and emotional
development of children. It is therefore essential for parents to encourage youth athletes to embrace
the values of good sportsmanship. Moreover, adults involved in youth sports events should be models

facts, I state that to the best of my knowledge, my daughter listed above has no medical, physical,
mental, or emotional health conditions that would hinder or prevent her participation in Duel Volleyball
Club.
