Appleridge Core

Appleridge Core
December 2013
Baby it’s Cold Outside…
But we’re staying warm inside with plenty of holiday carolers & nutcracker
dancers. This month will highlight numerous entertainers from the New Heights
Dance Theatre, Chemung ARC, Horseheads Interact Club, the 1st Presbyterian
Church of Elmira, Celtic dancers from the Ring of Chiarraigne, 1 st St. 2 Band
during the December birthday party and of course our very own residents who
will perform at our first holiday pageant.
Residents of Appleridge are encouraged to partake in the holiday door decorating
contest where residents have the option of decorating their apartment entrances
in a winter or holiday theme. Please sign-up on the activity bulletin board if you
wish to compete. We will walk through the building during the week of Dec. 16th
to vote for our favorite A/B/C wing door entrances. Winners will be announced
at the Holiday Pageant on December 20th.
An Apple ridge Holiday Pageant you say? That’s right!
Join us for our first Holiday Pageant on December 20th where we will witness our
residents singing holiday carols and performing skits, we will sing-a-long with
the staff as they serenade us with the 12 days of Christmas, and of course enjoy a
bite to eat with several other surprises in store! If you wish to participate in the
Holiday Pageant please attend the Tuesday evening practices in the community
room. We will also display three ginger bread houses that will be assembled by
three resident teams on December 19th. These three ginger bread houses will also
need your vote during the holiday pageant for a winner that will be announced on
Christmas Eve.
The fun won’t stop there as we travel to the Corning Museum of Glass to create
our own glass masterpiece for the holiday season, enjoy lunch at the Turtle Leaf
Café, visit Gramma’s Kitchen in Mansfield PA and take a ride to see the
wonderland of holiday lights in our town. National Cookie Day, Cocoa Day, and
Maple Syrup Day all land in the month of December which means our bellies will
stay full with some of our favorite holiday treats. We are also pleased to welcome
back Judy Poyneer, a local vendor who sells 2nd hand pins, brooches, and assorted
jewelry all at the price of $3. She will be set-up in the private dining room on
December 3rd from 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM for some holiday shopping.
Let the fun begin!
