CLUB PHYSIOTHERAPIST An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Club Physiotherapist at Trent Bridge, the home of Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club. Key responsibilities will include acting as the primary Physiotherapist to the Club’s Senior and Academy playing squads, including match day coverage for all First XI fixtures. You will also be responsible for the management of Physiotherapy service provision for the Second XI and Academy programmes. In addition you will provide or locally co-ordinate rehabilitation support services to contracted England players based at the County. Working closely with the Director of Cricket, the Academy Director and the Strength & Conditioning Coach, you will develop challenging and realistic injury prevention and performance development programmes for individual players. You will have a proven track record in Sports Medicine, with experience in the provision of physiotherapy services to elite athletes and working in interdisciplinary support staff teams, including coaches. RELEVANT GENERAL OBJECTIVES 2. CLUB PHYSIOTHERAPIST Provide world-class physiotherapy/sports medicine services for the County’s Professional and Academy players. SPECIFIC ROLE PROFILE Act as primary Physiotherapist to Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club’s First XI and Second XI players. Act as primary Physiotherapist to Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club’s Academy players. Provide physiotherapy services to other Nottinghamshire players as requested by the Director of Cricket. Travel with the Club’s First XI to all away matches, including any pre-season or mid-season tours. In conjunction with the Director of Cricket, organise quality Physiotherapist cover for Second XI home games when away with the Club’s First XI. In conjunction with the County’s Strength & Conditioning (S&C) Coach and Club Medical Officer (CMO), conduct no less than two musculo-skeletal screenings, including ECB protocols, per year for all Professional and Academy players. Using screening and assessment results, negotiate and agree challenging and realistic injury prevention programme goals with each individual player every 4 months. Enter all medical records in full on to the ECB database ‘Profiler’ within 24 hours for current England and ECB contracted players and within 3 days for County players. In collaboration with the S&C Coach, Director of Cricket and County Academy Director, formally monitor and review players’ workloads every week. In conjunction with the S&C Coach, agree optimal rehabilitation and recovery strategies for injured players. Provide “under terms of contract/policy” physiotherapy support and supervision to England Centrally Contracted and England Development Squad players. In conjunction with ECB Staff, establish, communicate and monitor “shared” injury prevention and management programmes for those players. Provide or locally co-ordinate rehabilitation support services to the identified England players based at the County, ensuring year-round services are provided by suitably qualified Physiotherapists. Lead the development of injury prevention and treatment strategies as well as providing player and coach education in this area. Co-ordinate physiotherapy development and education support in relation to child protection and long term athlete development (LTAD) issues. 3. Attend one night per week at Academy training sessions, in agreement with Academy Director. Develop a contact network of specialist sports medical practitioners. Develop objectives for a personal CPD programme and attend/participate in the ECB’s annual Science and Medicine Conference. Undertake appropriate professional development to keep abreast of world’s best practice. Any other duties as requested by the Director of Cricket. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS To be agreed in consultation with post-holder but to include: o Ensuring that NCCC satisfies the ECB Injury Prevention and Management (IPM) Audit to maximise Performance Related Fee Payment. PERSON SPECIFICATION CLUB PHYSIOTHERAPIST Department: Professional Cricket Essential Experience/ Knowledge - Experience in the provision of physiotherapy services to elite athletes and coaches which should include experience of touring with high performance squads. Desirable - Recent experience in the preparation and delivery of CPD workshops and conference presentations. - Research and development experience in injury management/prevention. - An ongoing record of relevant Continuing Professional Development (CPD). - Working experience in the support, preparation and development of young elite athletes, with specific expertise in injury prevention. Skills - Computer literacy, including MS Office, Excel and electronic medical databases. Qualifications - Current member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. - Member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Sports Medicine (ACPSM) with minimum of Silver level accreditation. - Current advanced life support training (refer to ECB for acceptable providers) with requalification every two years. - Advanced emergency management and onfield resuscitation qualifications. - A post-graduate qualification specialising in Sports Physiotherapy/ Sports and Exercise Qualifications (cont) Medicine/Sports Qualities & Attitude Other - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. - Self-motivated. - Able to work independently or in a team environment. - Flexible approach to work. - Willingness to work evenings and weekends, particularly in the cricket season. - Must hold Full EC driving licence. - The post-holder will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
