IFA Chairman’s Forum Members, Thula Mafoko and Patrick Mampofu, represent what is possible through the IFA Business Opportunity. In 2001, he was introduced to IFA by a friend. Later that year he attended an IFA event at the Durban ICC where IFA Legend Psy Tloubatla gave a testimonial that inspired him to take charge of his destiny. The purpose of the day was to provide IFAs with an opportunity to visit Head Office so that they are exposed and familiar with the different departments that they interact with and are key to the success of their business. It was also an opportunity to showcase the company and its credibility to downlines and new team members. When the group was done visiting all the departments, they headed to building 7 where they enjoyed a delicious warm lunch while appreciating the magnificent view of Sandton. They were welcomed by Clientèle Managing Director, Basil Reekie, who highlighted IFA’s achievements throughout the year and motivated everyone with his belief in IFA’s future growth. Chairman Forum member Thula Mafoko also took to the podium during the day and shared his IFA journey. His motivational speech about how he has consecutively managed to secure his spot as the Top Earner really inspired everyone. They promise high (usually unsustainable) returns on money “invested” and the underlying source of the money is not explained. They require a large upfront joining or investment fee. Pyramid schemes are unsustainable, unlawful and will collapse at some stage which in turn means massive financial loss to its members. D ue to the current challenging economic status, many South Africans find themselves looking for an extra income. Some are more desperate than others to make a quick buck and may fall victim to pyramid schemes which may result in them losing money while trying to gain some. It is important to be vigilant and watch out for quick money making schemes like pyramid schemes. “IFA promotes sustainable and ethical business practices and treating clients well. We reward members for introducing new members with an underlying insurance product,” explains Yurika Pistorius, Group Compliance Officer.
