Term One Report Cards and Parent Teacher Conferences

Dear parents:
This year parents in North Vancouver will access their child’s report card online through the
Parent Portal. Parents will set up an account that will allow them to view student report cards and
attendance. Information about setting up that account will be sent home this week and will also be
posted on the school’s web page. Due to some changes in District wide reporting procedures,
Larson staff has decided to post or publish student report cards on Friday, December 9th. Parent
teacher interviews will take place December 6-9, 2016 before report cards are posted in the
portal. Although this is a different practice for the Larson community, many schools do meet with
parents before report cards. We felt that this was preferable to holding Parent-Teacher
conferences during the last week of school before the Winter Break. We will welcome your
feedback about this change in practice after the conclusion of this reporting period. Please note
that students will be dismissed at 2:00pm on Tuesday, December 6th and Wednesday, December
7th to facilitate parent-teacher conferences. We will have regular 3:00pm dismissal on Thursday,
December 8th and Friday, December 9th.
We hope to meet with all parents to discuss their child’s learning at this time of year. Parents are
invited to come in to sign up for a parent-teacher conference. The sign –up will be posted just
inside the main doors of the school beginning on Tuesday, November 29th. These doors will be
open from 7:00am – 6:00pm November 29- December 1, 2016 to accommodate parent sign-up.
At this time, the following teachers will be sending out an email asking parents to sign up online
using a Doodle Survey: Mme Russell, Mme Chapman/Mme Shandro, Mme Fortin, Mme Lenart
and Mme Louisy-Daniel.
Mme Marion will be holding a Scholastic Book Fair in the Library during Parent-Teacher
conference week. The hours for this year’s Scholastic Book Fair will be as follows:
Monday, December 5
Tuesday, December 6
Wednesday, December 7
3:15pm - 5:30pm
2:05pm - 5:30pm
2:05pm – 6:30pm
Parent-Teacher conferences provide an important opportunity for teachers and parents to discuss
student progress and strengthen the home-school partnership that can support student learning
throughout the year. We are looking forward to meeting with you to discuss your child’s learning.
