
To begin the game, both teams must stand at the back line of the court, facing each other
and the dodgeballs, which will be lined up along the centre line. On the buzzer, no more
than four pupils from each team may run and try to collect the dodgeballs for their team.

Before the balls are thrown, they must be returned to the back line of the court (i.e. pupils
may not pick a ball up and throw it straight away from the central line).

Players are out in any of the following situations (hit below the head, try to catch the ball
and fumble it, cross over the centre line, and throw a ball which is caught by the opposition).
Pupils ARE OUT even if the ball the ball bounces ONCE off ground/ wall/ ceiling prior to
hitting them. (different to KS2)

If a ball is caught, one player from the receiving team may re-enter the game (in
chronological order of elimination).

Pupils may deflect the ball, using one they are already holding.

Players must respect the referee’s judgement, as this is final.

2 players will act as substitutes for each game. They may only enter the match as a result of
injury.

Games will be timed and decided by the number of players left in from each team. For
example; if team A finishes the game with 3 players, and team B with 5 players, then team B
win 5-3.
