Questions: What is the difference between D5 All Stars and Invitational tournaments? D5, or District 5, tournaments are sanctioned by Little League. Teams that win the D5 tournament advance to the Little League Virginia state tournament. Depending on the age group, teams may advance beyond the state tournament to the regional tournament and the World Series. Invitational tournaments are local tournaments sponsored by Richmond area District 5 little leagues. Teams do not advance beyond an invitational tournament. Are players expected to attend 100% of the practices and games? Yes, TLL expects 100% commitment from players. Excused absences, however, are allowed under certain circumstances. Players may seek permission to miss a practice from TLL’s All Star Committee. A possible absence is not necessarily a reason to forgo post-season play. If a player knows he or she would have an absence from a post-season team, talk with your league director. What is the eligibility requirement for participation on a post-season team? A player must play in at least 60% of his or her TLL regular season games. Exceptions may be made for absences due to school ball and/or medical reasons.
