Coach Pitch Baseball Rules - Kindergarten – 3rd Grade Field Dimensions Bases will be 55 feet apart. There will also be a “NO BUNT ZONE” in front of home plate. If the ball is hit in this zone, it will be considered a “foul ball.” Player Attire Players must wear a uniform; T-shirt & baseball cap provided by WFC. Teams that desire to wear matching pants may do so if the entire team agrees. Cleats are optional. No jewelry may be worn during games. Game Play We will not keep official score. The batter must wear a helmet and will get 10 pitches/attempts to get a hit. After the 10th pitch, the batter will be called “out.” If the player hits a “foul ball” on the 10th pitch, they will be allowed to attempt one more hit. One coach will pitch from the designated mound. The coach can move closer to the batter, ONLY if the player is having trouble hitting the ball. If a ball hits the Coach who is pitching and remains in fair territory, it will still be considered a fair ball and can still be played. No throwing of the bats will be allowed. Players must drop the bat at home plate after getting a hit. If a bat is thrown, the player will receive a “warning”. On the second offense, the umpire will call the player, “out.” If a runner is thrown out in route to a base, they will be called, “out.” If the ball is over-thrown to a baseman, players will only be allowed to advance 1 base. Three outs will end an inning. There will be a 6-run rule every inning. Teams can only score a maximum of 6 runs during their time at bat. Coaches, please rotate your batting order so that every player may get a chance to lead off at least once during the season. Base runners must remain in contact with their base until the ball is hit. The play will be considered, “dead” when the ball is thrown to the pitcher. In this event, players will no longer be able to advance bases. The umpire will make the final decision whether or not the play is officially “dead.” Base stealing will not be allowed. Pitching Because this league is Co-ed, you have the option to pitch underhand or overhand. (We encourage you to pitch underhand for the girls so that they may get used to the pitching style if they choose to play softball in the future.) Fielding Positions We will enforce a traditional infield (1st base, 2nd base, short-stop, 3rd base and pitcher) with one exception, a player can be placed between 1st & 2nd base. There will be no catcher. The remaining players must be dispersed throughout the outfield. Defensive players may not black the running path of a base-runner. It is important that all players get the opportunity to play infield & outfield positions during the course of the season. Other Important Info Only 2 coaches are allowed in the outfield for the team on defense. The team on offense may have traditional 1st & 3rd base coaches. The WFC will provide soft Safe-T balls for practices and games. We will play a minimum of 3 innings; a fourth inning can be played if time is permitting. The umpire will decide whether or not to play a 4th inning. In the event of rain or a storm, parents must call the WFC rain out line for confirmation of game cancellations. (254) 772-7571 They may also refer to the WFC website: www.woodway-texas.com Decision of game cancellations will be made by 3:00PM on weekdays & 8:30AM on Saturdays. Make up games will only be rescheduled if there is time and field space available. Absolutely NO disrespect towards the official/umpire will be allowed by the coaches, players or fans.
