PUKETE PRIMARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER VIRTUES AWARDS 1 April 2016 Dear Parents/Caregivers Congratulations to our Inter-school Swimming! Well done guys you did us proud! (Please see Miss Herron’s flyer thanks.) Ruru On Camp Over the next week and a half the Ruru team are going on camp at Waitomo. Each class goes for 3 days staying at the Rereamanu Marae. The children will enjoy a range of outdoor activities including abseiling, adventure caving, visiting the Waitomo caves and a team building challenge called Quest. They will also learn about the fascinating local geology. All the best campers hope you have great weather. Board Elections Coming Up The triennial Board of Trustees elections are being held in June. Every state school in New Zealand has a Board of Trustees that is responsible for the governance of each school. Our Board has five parent representative and these positions come up for election in June. If you are interested in standing for the Board a brochure is available from the office that gives detailed information. Nomination forms will be sent to eligible voters shortly. If you wish to check that your name is on the electoral roll please contact the school office. Gala – Saturday 9 April 10:30 Please support our Gala– bring your friends and relations. Room 15 – Rahera – Diligence Coming back from Easter break with great determination and energy. You have been a positive influence on the mat and have worked very hard on your learning tasks. Room 19 – Luke – Responsibility Getting yourself ready for learning as soon as you arrive at school, every single day. Well done for being a responsible member of our class, I can always depend on you to do your morning jobs. Room 20 – Anahera – Determination Never giving up and always trying your very best. I am so proud of your progress in math this term. Your determination is really paying off. Ka Pai! Room 21 – Hope – Friendliness Being friendly to everyone at school. You always have a smile on your face and kind things to say to others. You make Room 21 a lovely place to be! Touch 2016 Touch results from this week; Pukete Lions played Templeview Jets and lost 5 – 2. Player of the Day was Cohen for forward running and improving the game. Pukete Pumas played TK Cowboys in the semi – final and the game ended in the draw. It was an exciting game and all the boys gave a 100% effort. Player of the Day was Akira. Unfortunately the Cowboys scored the first try and went through to the final. Well done Pukete Pumas you made us proud. Pukete Jaguars won their semi-final but lost the final. They had 6 Players of the day; Tepare, Tyshon, Javae, Teariki, Nella and Tate. Player of the Term for speed and attack was Tyshon. This was a fantastic effort from this team who after a bad loss at the beginning made it all the way to the finals. Well done. Pukete Tigers played Nawton and lost 4 – 1 with Murphy scoring a try. Luke was player of the day. Pukete Cheetahs played Te Rapa Lightning and lost 8-1 with Lucas scoring a try.
