GK3 may shoot at either post. The coach serves off the ground • After facing the second shot, GK 1 exits the goal toward GK2, who enters the goal and continues the sequence • Rotate GK’s Progression • Players hoot off the ground from wide positions • Coach serves volleys or drop kicks • Wide server passes ball back to coach for shot • Wide server touches the ball, then either passes to coach for shot or strikes ball toward goal KEY FACTORS/COACHING POINTS • • • • Address vertical and lateral positioning Footwork: Practice the shuffle (shorter distances) and cross-over step (longer distances) Players should make decision to catch or parry early Depending on the height, position and power of the shot, keepers may use the fingertips or the heel of the hand to parry. A server plays the ball into any of the three attackers at the edge of the area. The defenders become live on attackers first touch. The attacking player who receives the ball cannot shoot first time but must pass to a team mate. If the defenders win the ball they return it to the server. Progression If a ball gets cleared behind the goals by defender or goalkeeper, the server can throw a ball in for a header. Setup is as previous; at the coach’s signal, both GK’s simultaneously roll their balls straight ahead. Each one quickly switches sides and dives for the other one’s ball. Each server has a number and coach calls out one number at a time to strike the ball at goal to beat the GK. L starts by lobbing a throw high for the GK to call for and claim. GK then distributes out to opposite side O. O plays give and go with S and shoots at GK. Teams have to score past the opposition by kicking, throwing, punching the ball in the oppositions goal. Players must stay in their of the field. First team to score three goals wins.
