Aplayerwithabloodyinjuryorbloodonhis/heruniformmustleavethegame.Theplayermay
notreturntothegameuntilthewoundisnolongerbleeding,thewoundiscoveredand/orthe
uniformischanged.
FORFEITS
A. Gametimeisforfeittime.
B. NoShow=NoteammembersshowuptoaschedulegameandtheIntramuralsOfficewas
notcontacted.ANoShowcanresultineliminationfromendoftheseasonplayoff
participation.
C. Forfeit=Ateamdoesnothavetheminimumamountofplayerstobeginacontest.Ateam
notifiestheRec.SportsOfficeoftheirforfeitby3pmongameday.Onenotificationofa
forfeittoIntramuralSportsmadeby3pmongamedaywillnotresultinremovalfromleague
orpostseason.
D. Multipleforfeitsmayresultineliminationfromtheendoftheseasonplayoffparticipation
PLAYERS
A. Teamsmusthaveaminimumof5playerstoregisterateam.Rosterssizeisunlimited;
pleasenotethatonlydoubletheamountofplayersonthefieldwillbeawardedIntramural
Championt-shirts.
B. IntramuralSportsDOESNOTrecognizecoaches.Teamcaptainsaresolelyresponsibleforall
teammatters.
RULES
IntramuralBasketballisstructuredtofollowtheNCAAMen’sBasketballRuleswith
modificationsmadetosuitconstraintsoftheprogram.

EQUIPMENT
A. Allteamsmusthavenumbersprintedontheirshirts.NOTAPEDNUMBERS.Anyteam
attemptingtoparticipatewithoutproperuniformswillbeassessedatechnicalfoul.Ifa
teamhasoneplayerwithoutanumberedjerseythecaptainwillhavethechoicetoeither
playorsitthatplayer.Iftheplayerplaysinthegamewithoutaproperlynumberedjersey
theteamwillreceivenohigherthana“2”sportsmanshipgrade.Ifmultipleplayersplay
withoutproperlynumberedjersey’stheteamwillreceivenohigherthana“2”
sportsmanshipgrade.
B. Teammembersmustallwearthesamecoloredjerseysanditisrecommendedthatteams
bringaseconddarkorlightjersey.
C. Recreationalsportswillprovidegameballs.However,ifbothteamsagree,analternateball
maybesubstituted.Amen’sballwillbeusedformen’sgames.Awomen’sballwillbeused
forwomen’sandco-edgames.
TIME
A. Allgameswillconsistoftwo-twenty(20)minutehalveswithacontinuousclock.Thefinal
twominutesofthesecondhalfwillbestoptimecontingentuponascoredifferentialof12
pointsorless.
B. Ifthepointmarginisfifteen(15)orgreaterat,orafter,thetwominutemarkofthesecond
halfandthegameisdeemeddangerousorlackadaisicalbytheofficialsitmaybecalled.
C. Ifnecessary,athree-minuteovertimeperiodwillbeplayed.Stoptimewillbeutilized
duringthelastminuteofovertime.
D. Ifasecondovertimeisneeded,thefirstteamtoscoreapointwillbedeclaredthewinner.
E. Ahalf-timebreakofnolongerthanfiveminuteswillbegiventotheteamsatthediscretion
oftheofficialsandprovidedthatsuchabreakwouldnotsignificantlyalterthescheduleof
eventsfortheevening.
F. Eachteamisallowedtwotime-outspercontest,whichmaynotbeaccumulated.Teams
willbeawardedonetime-outforovertime,butmaynotcarryoveranyunusedtime-outs
fromregulationplay.
G. Gametimeisforfeittimeaccordingtotheclockinthegym.Teamsmusthavefourplayers
withappropriateidentification,appropriateattire,andsignedinonthegamecardand
readytoplaypriortogametime.
COURTPLAY
A. Substitutionsareallowedprovidedtheballisdeadandthecourtsideofficialhasgiven
permissiontoenterthecontest.
B. Theseventhfoulperhalfoneitherteamwillresultinabonusfree-throwsituationforthe
opponent.Theseventhfoul,andonallcommonfoulsthereafter,willresultinaone-andone.Thetenthfoul,andallcommonfoulsthereafter,willresultinadoublebonus(twofoul
shots).
C. ABSOLUTELYNODUNKINGPRIORTO,DURING,ORAFTERACONTESTINEITHERTHE
ACKER,SHURMERORWRECFACILITIES.Dunking,orattemptingtodoso,beforeorduring

agame,willresultinatechnicalfoulonthatplayer.ITALSOMAYRESULTINALOWER
SPORTSMANSHIPGRADEATTHEDISCRETIONOFTHEOFFICIAL.
D. Anytwotechnicalfoulsononeplayerwillresultindismissalfromthegameformisconduct.
Anyplayerdismissedfromagameformisconductwillnotbeallowedtoparticipateinthe
nextplayedcontest,orinanyRecreationalSportseventsthereafter,untilhe/shehasmet
witheithertheDirectororAssistantDirectorofRecreationalSports.
E. Ifateamreceives3technicalfoulsinagame,andattheofficial’sdiscretion,thecontestcan
beimmediatelyforfeitedandtheoffendingteamwillforfeitthegame.
F. Anyparticipantdismissedformisconductmustleavethefacilityimmediately.Failureto
complywillresultinforfeitureofthecontestforthatteam.
G. Playersaredisqualifiedafterassessmentoftheirfifthfoul.
H. Alljump-ballsituations,withtheexceptionoftheinitialtossandatthebeginningofany
overtimeperiods,willfollowthealternatepossessionformat.
I. Thethree-pointruleisineffect,usingthecollegedistanceinMen’sRec.andCompgames
andthehighschooldistanceinallothergames.
J. Theintentionalfoulrulewillbestrictlyadheredto.Thefollowingareconsideredtobe
intentionalfouls:
o Anyfoulthatisnotalegitimateattempttodirectlyplaytheball.
o Runningintothebackofaplayerthathastheball,wrappingthearmsarounda
player,grabbingaplayeraroundthehips.
o Anytimeaplayerholds,pushes,orgrabsaplayerawayfromtheball.
K. Flagrantfoulswillbecalledforunnecessaryorexcessiveroughness,unsportsmanlike
conduct,ordangerousintentionalfouls.Flagrantfoulswillresultindismissal.
L. Alltechnicalfoulswillresultintwoshotsandtheballoutofboundsfortheopposingteam.
M. Slammingthebasketballtothefloor,outofjoyoranger,isconsideredbadsportsmanship
andmayresultinatechnicalfoulsituation.
CO-EDRULES
A. Co-edteamsmayhavenomorethantwomenontheflooratthesametime.However
havingmorefemalesonthefloorthanmalesisnotpenalized.
B. Femaleshotsareworthtwopoints,threepointsfrombehindthearc.Maleshotsareworth
onepoint,twofrombeyondthearc.
C. Maleplayersarenotallowedtoblockafemaleplayer’sshot.Violatorswillbeassesseda
technicalfoul.
D. Afemaleballwillbeusedforco-edgames.
E. Onlyfemaleparticipantscanbeinvolvedinthe“jumpball”atthebeginningofthegameor
overtimeperiod.
