A belated Happy New Year to everyone. 2016 is
going to be a very exciting year for the community
of St Patrick’s Primary!
Inverclyde Music Festival
Our pupils are going to be busy competing over the
next two weeks. Our choirs from P1, P2, P3 and P4
as well as a mixed choir from P5, 6, and 7 will be
performing on Monday 25th January. We also have
entrants in vocal solo and violin classes. Good Luck
to all those taking part. If you would like to come
along to support our choirs P3 & 4 compete at
10.00am, P1 & 2 at 11.00am and senior choir at
1.30pm. Can I please remind everyone that shirts
and ties should be worn if competing.
Head Teacher appointment
I am delighted to say that Mrs Kirsteen Doherty has
been appointed to the post of Head Teacher of St
Patrick’s Primary. Mrs Doherty is currently Depute
Head at St. Ninian’s Primary, Gourock. She will join
us on Wednesday 10th February. At that point I will
return to my Depute Head post within the school. I
would like to thank you all for all your help and
support during my time as Acting Head Teacher. I
must also thank Mrs Reynolds for all her hard work,
support and enthusiasm in her time here as Acting
Depute Head.
Pope Francis Faith Awards/Education Sunday
On Sunday 31st January our P6 pupils will be
formally enroled as participants in the Pope Frances
Faith Awards Scheme. All Primary 6 pupils should
be present at this mass. As it is also Education
Sunday our pupils will be taking part in the liturgy.
It would be lovely if as many of our families as
possible came along to celbrate and give thanks to
God for all that is good in Catholic Education and in
St. Patrick’s Primary in particular. We look forward
to seeing you there.
Notre Dame Cluster Catholic Education Week
Mass
On Wednesday 3rd February at 7pm in St Patrick’s
Church our annual Cluster Mass will take place.
This brings together staff, pupils, parents, families
and clergy from Notre Dame and its feeder primary
schools, St. Patrick’s, All Saints and St. Mary’s. We
are playing host this year and hope that many of our
families will come along to what is always a very
uplifting occasion. Our children will also be taking
part in the liturgy. Refreshments will be available in
the hall after mass.
Parent Council Meeting
Tuesday 26th January at 7pm in St. Patrick’s Church
Hall. All welcome.
Primary 1 Play@Home & Book Bug Workshop
We look forward to welcoming our parents and
carers on Thursday 28th of January for what is
always a great fun and informative session. We are
combining both activities as we know it is not easy
for everyone to find time to join us.
Jump2It
On Thursday our senior pupils were lucky enough to
be involved in the Jump2It programme which
involved players from Glasgow Rocks professional
basketball team. They were given health talks and
some basketball coaching. This programme
continues with basketball coaching sessions for our
P7 pupils over the next few weeks followed by a
local tournament with the chance to play at the
Emirates Stadium and win tickets to a Rocks game
for our school!
Texas Instruments
Also on Thursday our P4 pupils were invited to
perform at Texas Instruments at their staff Burns’
Supper. They were fabulous ambassadors for our
school and had great fun too. Well done Primary 4!
Primary 7 Ardmay Trip
Our Primary Seven pupils are going for a five day
residential visit to Ardmay House in Arrochar on
Monday 15th February. It is going to be fabulous
fun. Our buses will be a bit quieter for a week!
