Still in the introductory phase but many students are self-motivated by education perfect to use it as a homework tool and for their own revision. As teachers we have booked computer time to introduce students to it and set “homework” tasks for students to complete in their own time or when they have finished classwork. I have started setting up competitions for students to compete against other classes within the school to motivate them and see how other classes compare for revision tasks. This has been an easy way to introduce school wide competition in a transparent and engaging way Still haven’t achieved 100% use and a few students are resistant to e-learning but this is slowly improving. There are a few small issues with students who do not have internet access at home. But there is still a higher level of engagement than with more traditional teaching methods. What are the different ways you use Education Perfect with your classes? Revision - to give students a different medium for answering questions in the lead up to tests and exams. By setting tasks I can monitor who is attempting and completing revision and I get feedback as to any questions that my students are struggling with. This helps me to plan for revision lessons to address the areas my students most need help with. Competition - Students can see how others in their class are doing and others throughout the school. This encourages them to attempt more questions and increases the levels of engagement. Blending lessons - By giving students choices of how to learn new content. Some students prefer to work through units on education perfect whereas others would rather watch a video clip or listen to me in a more traditional teaching setting. This helps to foster more engagement throughout my classes How do you use Education Perfect with your junior students? And your senior students? We haven’t used it with junior students yet but seniors are enjoying using education perfect as a learning tool. I have set up homework tasks to automatically start each week and I can easily monitor student progress and identify areas where they may be struggling. I can easily check long answers to exam questions and given immediate feedback to the students. What suggestions do you have for other schools? It can take time to get all students familiar with education perfect. It’s a good idea to closely monitor progress and give feedback to students in the first few weeks of use for them to see the benefits and realise that they still need to work hard to achieve.
