Dept of Health & Mental Hygiene.
The Early
Intervention Program
(EIP) is a public program
for children under the
age of 3 who are either
suspected of having or
at risk for developmental
delays or
disabilities.
Eligibility
for Early
Intervention Program
can be determined only
by state-approved
evaluators under
contract.
All needed EI
services for eligible
children are identified
in collaboration with
the parent and must
be authorized by the
municipality.

Health Insurance may be used for approved services.
EI services may be delivered in child care settings or community locations on request.
Parents are responsible for paying any fees associated with childcare in such locations.
The service coordinator will arrange for service providers, considering the
individual needs of the child and family, as authorized by the NYC EI Officials.
