New Chairman
Martin Dempsey was elected chairman at the club’s annual general meeting on December the 5 th
last. Martin has been involved with the club since the early eighties. He played hurling with Trim
and was on the team that completed the three in a row senior hurling championships’ in 1987,
1988 and 1989. Martin played a major part in bringing the club back to the top of the hurling
ladder after a gap of twenty seven years. He also managed the hurling team in 1992 that won the
senior hurling championship and reached the Leinster club semi final losing out narrowly to
eventual Leinster winners Buffers Alley from Wexford. Recently Martin has been a selector on
our Intermediate football team. Martin brings vast experience to the chairman’s seat as he runs a
successful business, Dempsey Travel in Trim. He also served as secretary of Killyon hurling club
for ten years. Martin has also been captain of County Meath Golf Club and worked on many
committees during his time in the golf club. We wish Martin the very best of luck in 2013.
Chairman’s Address
It is with great pride that I present the first Chairman’s address to our new Monthly newsletter.
We hope this newsletter will keep our members and general public up to date with all the
activities in the various sections of the club.
Personally I would like to thank all of those who have taken up positions in the club and hope
they are successful with whatever part of the club you are involved in. I would hope that this
news letter will be read and enjoyed at home and abroad where many of our former players and
members reside all over the world.

Football Update
Our Intermediate football team have been in training since the 5th of January. During the month
of January they concentrated on gym work in the newly set up gym in the club house. The lads
worked in the gym three times a week for the month. In February they took to the hard grind on
the field and will continue with this in preparation for the championship in early April.
The all county football league Division 2 commenced on the 17th of February with a home fixture
against senior outfit Walterstown. This was to be an away match but Walterstown had to concede
home advantage due to their pitch been waterlogged. The lads put up a very encouraging display
against their higher ranked opposition but lost narrowly on a score line of Trim 1-6 Walterstown
0-12. Best for Trim on the day was youngster Kieran O Rourke marking his first team debut with
a superbly taken goal and a point. The second round of the A league was played on Sunday 24th
February at St Loman’s Park Trim, Trim produced a very disappointing display against fellow
intermediate side St Colmcilles and suffered a heavy defeat of nine points. The team was short
ten of the Intermediate squad and six regular starters, Mick Lowther, Robert Brennan and Paul
Flanagan with injuries and David Foley, James Toher and Damo McGee on duty with Meath
Hurlers. That said the team were very disappointing and much work needs to be done before the
championship begins in April. On a positive note seventeen year old Robert Burke made his adult
football debut and capped a fine performance with two well taken points.
The Junior team are training in preparation for the all county B League Division 2 which
commences on Tuesday the 5th of March.
 Training for our Adult Football Teams is Every Tuesday and Thursday at 8pm
Inter County Duty
Our club is very well represented on Meath inter County teams, see below for all our county Men

 Congratulations to James Toher who captained the Meath Senior hurling team, and Edel
Guy who was captain of the Meath Senior Camogie last Sunday. Both captains gained
superb victories with their teams in the National Leagues. I would say this was the first
time that we as a club had the captains for two county senior team on the one day. A piece
of history I would say? Am I correct?
