Pelahatchie High School Lesson Plan Template 2016-2017
Teacher’s Name: Nobles
Subject/Course: Geometry
Grade Level: 10th/11th
Unit Title: Reasoning and Proof
MS Framework Objective(s):
CCSS Framework Objective(s): 8.GO.9,10,11
Reading Strategies: Students will read the Achieve article and answer questions,
complete all activities, and complete the stretch article. Students will read statements
and deduct reasoning from said statements.
Writing Strategies: Students will write statements proving their reasoning. Students
will argue using proofs and statements.
Learning Outcomes: Students will be able to…
-prove conjectures about patterns; use counterexamples
-use variety of if-then statements to describe mathematical relationships (converse, inverse, contrapositive)
-write biconditional statements as two conditionals that are converses of each other
-use deductive reasoning to make valid or true conclusions –write two-column proofs
-use definitions, properties, postulates, and previously proven theorems as reasons in a proof
SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT Dates: 9/22 & 9/23
