Tournament Information
7 Rounds Swiss rated. 10 seconds per move. No
clocks needed. Everybody has to play in the
individual tournament. Players who wish to do
so, can also enter as teams of 4 players, whose
scores are added at the end of the tournament to
determine the winning teams.

Programme:
8h00-8h45: Finalizing of players’ lists and payments.
09h00: 1st Round.
Entry fee and prizes
8h45: All players seated for round 1.
1. Entry fee for all sections: R50 per player. Any 4 players playing in the same section may also enter as a team.
2. Team entry fee: free if entered before 20h00 on Wednesday 11 May (all team players have to enter as individual
players as well). Late team entries: R50
3. The first 3 teams in the following sections will receive medals:
A Section
A1 Section: Open (Club / fun teams) and A2 Section: High School teams.
B Section (Primary school)
B1 Section: Fun teams and B2 Section: Primary School teams.
4. The first 3 individuals in the A section, as well as in the B section will also receive medals.
5. Prizes will not be shared. The following tiebreak system will be used in case of equal points:
Individual: 1) Tournament Performance; 2) Bucholz Median System; 3) Sonneborn-Berger.
Team: The lowest score of a member will be dropped. If still equal, the next lowest score will be dropped etc.
Tournament Arrangements
1. Players will be allowed to enter in a higher section;
2. For school and club teams, every member of the team has to be a pupil of that school or a member of that club.
Schools and clubs may enter as many teams as they wish, each with its own name e.g. “Vaal High A”. Fun teams
are also welcome to enter e.g. “The Terminators.”
3. All members of a team have to play in the same section.
4. By your entry into this tournament you agree unconditionally to abide by all the rules and regulations;
5. The organizers of the tournament are not responsible for the safety of players or their property;
6. Players have to provide their own chess pieces. No clocks are needed. Chess boards will be provided.
7. FIDE Blitz rules and Sedibeng tournament rules apply. This tournament does not count for credits for Sedibeng
teams.
8. Tuck shop will be available, as well as light meals.
Registration process
1. Complete one registration form per team or per individual who does not play in a team. Entries close at 20h00 on
Wednesday 11 May. Late entries will play from the second round only and incur a penalty fee.
2. Entry fees to be paid to Vaal River Chess Club, FNB, Account nu. 62469883005, Branch nu. 250655 case of EFT.
Please use Blitz and the team’s name or individual player’s surname and name. Please bring proof of payment.
3. E-mail entry forms and proof of payment to [email protected]. No telephonic or SMS entries will be
accepted.
4. Players’ list will be available on www.sedchess.co.za on Friday 13 May as from 20h00. If your name is not on the
