What an amazing year this has been for DI Ontario and all of our DI teams! Congratulations and thank you for helping to make this a record-breaking year for DI Ontario! Over 150 teams participated in DI in Ontario this year - that’s close to 900 students, our most ever, who have benefitted from the rewards of the Destination Imagination program! Wow!!! The Destination Imagination program is only possible due to the hundreds of volunteers who serve as Team Managers, Challenge Masters, Appraisers, Tournament Volunteers, on the Board of Directors, and many other roles throughout the year. Thank you to each and every one of you who volunteer to make Destination Imagination an amazing experience for all of our students! LOOKING BACK AT OUR 2017 TOURNAMENT SUCCESSES! All of our teams and team members should be so proud of their DI journey this year! We were awed and amazed by all of the wonderfully creative team challenge solutions that were seen at our Regional tournaments this year, both at our GTA tournament held at St-Basil-the-Great College School in North York, as well as at our Eastern Region tournament held at Ecole Secondaire Catholique Paul-Desmarais in Stittsville. Qualifying teams who went on to compete at our Provincial tournament at University of Toronto (Scarborough) impressed the Appraisers even further by “raising the bar” and taking their innovative and creative challenge solutions to the next level! Great job everyone! We would like to congratulate the 25 teams who represented DI Ontario at Global Finals this year! It was the best Team Ontario Global Final trip in recent memory. Collectively Ontario performed better than we have in the last 5 years. We are all very proud of how well these teams represented Ontario on our behalf! We are looking at some new and exciting things for next year, including: DI Ontario Team Manager & Instant Challenge Workshop(s) Regional Team Manager Training Teleconference(s) DI Information workshops for schools, school boards, etc - we are already looking at reserving spots, so contact us as soon as possible if you would like us to come to your school or area to talk about DI We will also continue to send you support emails and newsletters with lots of resources, need to dos (reminders, deadlines…) and loads of encouragement! If you have any other ideas of things that we could offer for you & your teams that you would like to share with us, please feel free to contact us. We would love to hear from you! HOW YOU CAN HELP GROW DI IN ONTARIO As we end our year, most of you have now seen the full extent that the DI program offers our kids. Transformation in the workforce requires creativity and innovation and all of the top companies in the world (Amazon, Google, etc.) place an emphasis on people who practice divergent thinking. Our program provides an early opportunity to train our youth in this type of thinking and it would be a missed opportunity if we didn't try to grow our program and get it into every school possible. DI Ontario is looking for help in the following areas. Perhaps you have a parent on one of your teams who you think might be a good fit in one of the following areas: - Fundraising - Delivering workshops - Promoting the program within your school board - Appraising - Tournament coordinating If you have any potential leads for us, please introduce them to us and we will follow up. It is through your vision and dedication to our children’s future that we are able to continue to grow and share this amazing opportunity with even more children, schools, and families. Thank you again and we look forward to seeing you all again next year. Have a wonderful & safe summer!
