Revised IAKO Guidelines - Thurso Town Improvements Association

It’s a Knockout (IAKO)Guidelines
Thank you for your interest in participating in the It’s A Knockout Competition on Saturday
24th June, which is a fundraiser for Thurso Town Improvements Association (TTIA). Here
you’ll find all the information you require to register your team, fundraise on our behalf and
of course, information on how to score points. Please contact us by e-mail if you have any
further questions: [email protected]
To register a team, please contact us with the following information:
 A Team name
 A Team captain (who will act as your teams representative)
 An e-mail address for your team captain and a telephone number
 How many participants are in your team (we appreciate that this may change in the
run up to the event) the minimum number in a team is 6. There is no maximum
number of team participants as any extra members can fundraise for the team. For
the physical games on the day, entrants must be 16 or over however fundraisers can
be any age.
Part of the registration agreement between the teams and TTIA is the commitment of each
team to raise at least £100 for TTIA. Fundraising is a huge part of the game and 10 points
are awarded for every £100 raised.
Teams can ‘buy in’ last minute for a fee of £100. We would love if teams began fundraising
at their earliest convenience, helping to benefit the organization and your team spirit!
Where possible, TTIA will help out at fundraising events and can supply equipment if we
have it. Please let us know about each event and we’ll help with promotion via press
releases and our social media, which has over 1000 likers on our facebook page. This will
help give you the exposure you deserve for assisting your local community and your fund
raising efforts.
We fully appreciate that team members run busy lives so if you are unable to co-ordinate
your own team events, you can gain points for your team but joining in with pre arranged
TTIA events too! Spend a couple hours bag packing with us, sell a couple raffle tickets to
family and friends or enter a team in the pub quiz/car treasure. All of these will help you
gain those valuable points.
On Saturday 24th June we expect teams to arrive onsite pumped and ready by 4pm. A total
of 7 games will take place on the day. Prior to each event, we will call the team captain to
supply the required amount of players for the upcoming game. You can rotate any of your
players for each game but the Captain must take part in all events. A player cannot be
changed during a game unless injured and if practical. TTIA suggests team members
consider taking a change of clothes along to the event.
Points and prize system:
Points awarded for the 7 physical games
1st 50 points, 2nd 30 points, 3rd 15 Points - All other finishing teams 5 points
Points will be awarded for best Fancy Dress for each team 1st 100 pts, 2nd 75 pts, 3rd 50 pts,
all other efforts 25pts
Selling 200 Raffle tickets would gain 100 points,

Saturday 27th May in Tesco.

holds a different point value. Contact us to find out more. Coming up is the Pub Quiz on
Thursday 1st June in the Holborn and the Car treasure hunt on Sunday 4 th June at the Legion.
There are two team prizes up for grabs the overall winner and the team who fundraised the
most. Overall winning team will receive a trophy.
TTIA suggests that each team brings a Tent or Gazebo to host their team on the day. This
will be your team hub and can act as a changing facility and for fundraising on the day. An
area will be made available for team tents and will be identified to you on arrival.
When participating in prior fundraising and on the day teams must remember that this is a
fun event to raise funds for TTIA current projects.
Please make any fundraising activities safe for all your participants and the public.
Please do not do anything that would be considered inappropriate, immoral, unethical,
illegal or a public nuisance.
All teams taking part agree to photography of team events prior, during and after the IAKO
tournament.
If you have any query on your activities, please contact us and we can discuss it and provide
guidance. On any matter please feel free to contact us, we want to work with you to help
you make it a success for your team.
All participation in the events and fundraising activities are at the entrant/participants own
