Dear Parents/Guardians and Students

Welcome and congratulations on your acceptance to the University of Colorado for
your 6th grade year. We are so lucky to have you for the upcoming 2017-2018 school year. I
am Professor Ashley Ulrich (Ul-Rick), and I will be your homeroom teacher. I will be teaching
math and science (cottage) this year. This is my fourth year teaching at EDUPRIZE. I received
my degree in Elementary Education from Arizona State University. My husband, Brian, and I
live in Gilbert with our cat, Stitch. In my spare time I like to go to the movies, enjoy the great
outdoors, read a good book, and spend time with family and friends.
Professor Hilah Torres will be your ELA and Social Studies teacher. Professor Torres
graduated from Northern Arizona University with her Bachelors of Science in Education. This
will be her first year on the EDUPRIZE team. She lives in Mesa with her husband Matt and her
dog Zoe. In her spare time she enjoys reading, painting, and spending time with her husband
and family.
We are excited to be continuing our Diploma Program this year! In case you are new
to EDUPRIZE, each class is representing a real life college, and you are going to have the
opportunity to earn many different academic degrees throughout the year. To start the year
off right, you can do some research about CU over the summer. Who founded the college
and in what year? Who is the current head coach of the football team? What is their
mascot? This will be a great opportunity for you to learn a little bit about our college.
You can visit our campus for your New Student Orientation (Open House) on Monday,
July 24th at 11:00 a.m. While our Open House is all day from 8:00-4:00, our scheduled time is
bolded. Your new classroom is room 93 in building 2. Please be sure to complete and print the
Open House Forms and bring the completed forms to me. These forms can be found on our
school website, www.eduprizeschools.net. You will need to purchase a planner and Junior
Scholastic Magazine for $13. You may pay with cash or check (made payable to Eduprize).
In order to be considered enrolled at EDUPRIZE, it is imperative that each student attend on
time and for the entire first full day of school, Wednesday, July 26th. We will meet students at
the lunch tables next to building 2. Our Monday–Thursday school hours are 7:45-3:10, and on
Fridays we have class from 7:45-11:50. Please check the school website for any possible
changes or updates before the year starts.
This year you will be enrolled in four science/social studies courses.
Economics 101 (Money Market)
Introduction to Life Science (Greenhouse)
Weather Investigations 101 (Storm Cellar)
Introduction to Energy (Power Plant)
I look forward to meeting you! We have so much knowledge to acquire this year; I just
cannot wait to get started.
See you all very soon. Go Buffalos!
