Do you think you’ve trained the UK’s top hairdressing student? Why not nominate them for the Hair Council’s UK Student of the Year Award 2016. Learners need to create a finished look and submit two photos of their model. The Level 2 entrants will be asked to dress hair in a red carpet fashion and the Level 3 will be asked to cut and blow dry an innovative style of their choice. Please see images from 2015 at www.haircouncil.org.uk coming soon. The judges are Jamie Stevens (X Factor Hairdresser), celebrity hairdressers Andrew Barton and Patrick Cameron. The eight highest in each level will get through to the final. PLEASE DO NOT SEND IMAGES IN NOW - WE ONLY REQUIRE NOMINATIONS ALONG WITH THE ENTRY FEES BY December 16th The entry fee is £32 per student and includes one year’s state registration once qualified (worth £35). Payment must be included with the nominations and is not refundable should a student pull out of the competition. The finals will take place on 22nd May at L’Oreal Studios in London. The highest eight marks in each level will be invited to compete the final which will comprise a 50 minute practical and an interview. The winners will be announced on the same day. The two overall winners will receive fantastic prizes including a trophy, a day with Andrew Barton at his salon, a business lunch with L’Oreal Colour Trophy winner Sophia Hilton and lunch at the House of Commons. Personal e-mail address.………………………........................................................…………………………………………… Rules for the UK Student of the Year Awards 2016 All competitors will be expected to submit two photographs of their work (front and side views) on a disc or via email to [email protected] (Please see page 2 for closing dates). The model must be against a white or plain pale background and wearing a black top. The images should include one from the front and one from the side. The disk must have the nominee’s name and phone number written on the front and images should be at least 1mb. The images need to be clear and in focus, taken in a well-lit environment as poor quality images may affect the judges decisions. Makeup should support the final look and the model chosen should reflect the image the competitor is trying to achieve. The competitor must be confident they can recreate the look within 50 minutes should they reach the final. Level 2 Competitors should create a ‘red carpet’ glamour look worthy of any red carpet event. Be inspired by the Prom, celebrities at the Oscars, BAFTA’s and film premiere’s including stunning styling that showcase skill and product use. Up to four wefts of ornamentation and added hair are optional but must not cover more than a ¼ of the models head. There is no restriction on pre-colour work or the number of oxidation colours however, all colouring should be the competitors own work. Level 3 Competitor’s images should show a cut and blow-dry reflecting a commercial innovative emerging look. Create an on-trend fashion focused haircut and finish that shows off cutting, styling and colour skills. Competitors must be available on Sunday 22nd May 2015 to compete at L’Oreal Studio, Hammersmith with their model should they reach the final.
