Job Purpose:

To aid in the identification and development of the most talented players within the senior game in Ontario

To aid in the selection and development of a Canadian Rugby Championship Ontario Blues squad (CRC) in
accordance with the guidelines set out by Rugby Ontario

To promote Rugby Ontario players for National selection through on field performance
Key Accountabilities:
Area of work:
To support the identification and selection of players for the season in conjunction with
the Senior Head Coach and management team and in accordance with rugby Ontario
selection policies
Individual player
identification and
team selection
To aid in the selection of a playing squad for the CRC
To identify and monitor players in the Domestic Club and University programs through
consultation with Team Coaches, Rugby Ontario Coaches and Rugby Canada High
Performance Coaches to allow accurate player suitability decisions to be made by Rugby
Ontario Senior Management Teams
To support relevant managers regarding communication of selection and de selection in
accordance with guidelines set out by Rugby Ontario
To attend relevant U19 provincial activities to aid in player ID of potential senior players as
directed by High Performance Manager
To support the Senior Head Coach in the delivery of the coaching content and
development of coaching themes for the Blues Programs
To support the Senior Blues Head coach with delivery of coaching content, specifically
attack and back play
To ensure coaching delivery is thematic throughout the Blues Program in accordance with
core themes set out by Rugby Ontario
To deliver specific skills sessions to High Performance players where applicable
To ensure that coaching is delivered in a player centered fashion
Ensure coaching session are organized to include technical, tactical and mental aspects
Ensure coaching sessions facilitates individual player, sub unit and team development
In conjunction with the senior Head Coach develop and implement team game shape and

ways of play for the Blues CRC team
To take responsibility for the implementation of specific area of team development as
directed by the Senior head coach
Develop a coaching environment that is conducive to developing performance behaviors
and encourages player interaction and ownership within the program
In conjunction with Senior head coach ensure all selected players receive performance
feedback both written and verbally periodically throughout the Blues program
Utilize available analysis to aid in the development of individuals and teams
Deliver and lead on coaching updates within the province
Coach Education
To support the Senior Head Coach in planning of individual sessions
Planning and
Organising
To support the Senior Head Coach in individual game planning and organization
Support Senior Head Coach & Manager with all relevant off field matters
Liaise with medical staff with regard to individual players taking into account player
welfare at all times
To support the Senior Head Coach in the collation of performance feed back for players
attending invite sessions not selected for CRC squad
Ensure all individual performance plans are reviewed with the players during the CRC
program
To support the Senior Head Coach in ensuring that all individual performance plans are
completed within 2 weeks of the end of the CRC
Ensure individual performance plans are used appropriately throughout the season and
player 1 to 1 performance meetings are organised as directed by Senior Head Coach
Attend talent ID meetings post program for senior program and any other provincial team

Shared responsibility for building & sustaining a winning team
Input into selection for Tournaments and Individual matches
Involved in the planning, preparation and roll out of a programme of training/coaching for the squad
throughout the season.
Formally review the performance of individual players and create the appropriate environment for individual
improvement based upon regular reviews.
