Support Play Rangers to
o Develop play opportunities in identified areas
o Promote knowledge and understanding of the
need for good quality play for children
o Provide effective administration
Project worker
Work to tight deadlines
Full driving license or access to alternative transport
Excellent communication skills
Computer literate and word processing skills
Experience in playwork
Experience of volunteering

DUTIES & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop Play Opportunities in
identified areas


Deliver play sessions that are play focused and child led,
where children are encouraged to enjoy a wide variety of
play experiences including opportunities for risky and
challenging play
To work with parents and volunteers to support them to
deliver the play sessions with their children in their
communities.
Promoting knowledge and
understanding of the need for
good quality play opportunities
for children

Raising Awareness of value of play in communities that
receive play sessions and encourage new ideas for play
that they can in the longer term they can develop
themselves.
Providing effective administration


Contribute to marketing of the play session.
Ensure evaluation of work including children whenever
possible

DESIRABLE





Relevant play experience
Knowledge and understanding of the value of play,
school aged childcare schemes, other childcare
provision, and relevant legislation
Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate
effectively with people at a variety of levels and through
a variety of mediums
Willingness to undertake other training and development
activities as required
Ability to work effectively with a minimum of supervision
and as part of a team
Good organisational skills and the ability to work with
attention to detail when necessary
Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
Willingness to work outside of normal working hours as
required.
Full and valid driving licence and access to vehicle, or
access to transport that will allow fulfilment of the post

Experience in community development work
Knowledge and understanding of the benefits of good
quality childcare and play to children, parents/carers,
employers and schools
Knowledge of current Government policy and initiatives
around play childcare and children’s issues
