THE AMAZING RACE Information Literacy Style Route Info • This clue only provides the resources that may be used in the team’s next task; its up to the teams to figure out which ones to use and how to use them. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Route_information.jpg Clue • These are tasks that both/all team members must work together to complete. Detour • A Detour presents the team with a decision between two tasks, each with its own pros & cons. • Often, one task may seen easy but involves some sort of extra work, while the other may seem difficult, but in the end may be the easier choice. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Detour_clue.PNG U-Turn • After completing their Detour option, a team may use their UTurn ability to force another team to backtrack and complete the Detour option they did not previously complete. • Only one team may use a U-Turn during a leg of the race. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:U-Turn_clue.PNG Road Block • A Road Block is a task that only one team member may perform. • Once a team member has been selected, they cannot switch. • Partners may only supply words or encouragement, not help. • Partners that are not participating must stand with the host and wait for their teammate to finish. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:RBlock_clue.PNG Check-In Mat • Teams complete the race by stepping onto the Check-In Mat. • The host (Media Specialist) will check each team’s work. • If a team has failed to do a task that they can correct, the host will tell them that they must complete the task before they can check in. • If the team cannot correct a task or has accumulated penalties, they will be asked to wait out the penalty time before they can checkin. Check-In Mat • The first team to complete all the tasks in the Amazing Race will win a fabulous prize!
