Let the Games Begin

Let the Games Begin!
YR 9 Book Week Competition
A
Imagine that you are one of the tributes in the annual Hunger Games (not one of the characters
that you have encountered in any of the novels from the Hunger Games trilogy).
On A4 paper, create a full-length, coloured poster of your character to be displayed on television
screens all over Panem.
Your tribute will need an eye-catching costume, fitting for the tribute’s district, and suitable for the
parade, interviews, or taking part in the Hunger Games’ challenges.
What special skills does your character have? Try to incorporate these into your poster
Your poster must be original and can be drawn and coloured, painted or created using graphic art
software.
The 12 districts in Panem are as follows:

Peacekeepers.

as cars and firearms.

scratch, swimming, and identifying edible sea life.

The Arena
B
Imagine what the arena will be for this year’s Hunger Games. It
must be your own original idea. Draw a labelled map of the whole
arena.
The Game
C
From the perspective of your tribute, (first person and in present tense) write a narrative of 1 page
of A4.
You have 60 seconds to survey the arena before the gong rings to signal the start of the game.
Describe what you see and what you plan to do.
Describe the next 60 seconds as you scramble to grab precious resources but also fight to stay
alive.
