REPORTS:
Alcohol Beverage Inspector
 On August 8th 2009, (Saturday evening 11:18 PM) Ron received a call on the TIPS line. He called
dispatch and the Denton PD went to the residence. 5 underage youth were cited for underage
possession and 1 adult was cited for providing alcohol to minors.
 Ron said so far since the start of the TIPS line, 13 calls have been received.
 Ron discussed the letter he sent to the liquor board regarding those under 18 being able to sell
alcohol at establishments, but yet they cannot consume until they are 21. The liquor board agreed
with his letter and the County attorney is now drafting legislation to send to Annapolis to see if the
law can be changed. This would occur October 2010 at the earliest.
 Ron did TIPS training to 9 people from Denton Fire Company. Ron and Karen are pleased that more
people are calling to be trained.
 Ron reported stings were done recently. Karen added that stings were not done since March 2007. 1
convenience store and 3 sit down restaurants were cited for selling alcohol to a minor. Ron and
Karen were pleased that 50 establishments were visited and only 4 cited.
OLD BUSINESS:
 Federalsburg Community Program- Alwinta Lake not able to make the meeting today. Karen
said Alwinta has had some success with kids and reaching out to them in Federalsburg with a
‘Fun Day’ program providing basketball and ‘step’activity.
 CADCA Conference- Karen and Heidi Rochon attended the conference in Kentucky. Karen
said it was a good conference. She said it was good to learn what other Coalition’s are doing.

 Carol D Agostino Proposal- Karen gave proposal to all Coalition members. Karen also gave
members copy of survey questions. Carol told coalition there was 3 ways to reach members: 1hard copy survey to fill out 2- Website to go to 3- Chesapeake Helps to do phone survey. Bill
Allen asked about incentive for filling out survey? Carol said sometimes she questions what
motivation is for people who fill out surveys for just a prize. Karen hopes survey may be a good
recruitment tool for the Coalition. The Coalition discussed more questions to add to the survey.
Once the survey is completed Karen is to send out copy to all members for their comments.
