The "Kinderspiel des Jahres 2011“
Three more games are recommended by the Jury Spiel des Jahres
“Da ist der Wurm drin“ is the new “Kinderspiel des Jahres 2011”, the prestigious
award from the Jury Spiel des Jahres. „Zicke Zacke“ ist recommended by
„Kinderspiel des Jahres 2011“and „Safranito“ and „Geistesblitz“ are recommended
by „Spiel des Jahres 2011“.
“Da ist der Wurm drin“
Who’s fastest? In the children‘s game “Da ist der Wurm drin“ worms burrow like
crazy and each player tries to lengthen its worm bit by bit. The worms dig their way
underground until finally they are allowed to come up above the earth again in the
compost heap in Mr Wurmfeld‘s garden. Daisies and a pile of leaves tempt them
along the way. Whoever is able to estimate which worm will reach the stop-offs
quickest can also feed their worm to help them burrow even faster. The first worm to
stick its head out of the compost heap wins.
“Da ist der Wurm drin“ is an attractive and stable, amusingly designed worm race for
2 to 4 players 4 years and up. It takes 15 to 20 minutes.

RECOMMENDED GAMES
“Safranito“ – bargaining at the Indian spice stand
Recommended „Spiel des Jahres 2011“.
Saffron, curry and cardamom – bargain for precious spices at the Indian bazaar.
”Safranito“ is the name of a sophisticated game by Zoch for two to four players ten
and up. This family game with a great atmosphere combines tactics and skill in an
unusual way, spiced with a pinch of action. It is reminiscent of Carrome, popular in
India and Sri Lanka, but offers far more tactical and playful elements.
”Safranito“ by Marco Teubner is a quick to play beautiful family game which
transports us to a bazaar in India. The large game board has a frame so that chips
can really “fly“.For 2 to 4 players 10 and up
“Zicke Zacke“ – Hide behind hedges and fences
Recommended "Kinderspiel des Jahres 2011“
An amusing card game: The motto of this entertaining fast-paced card game with
the long-familiar and beloved animals of the Zoch chicken family is “find the hiding
places behind hedges and fences“. The game cards show chickens, ducks or foxes
that are hiding behind fence slats and hedges. However, as they are curious they
peep out so that players can spy them. Some cards are placed in front of the
players, others are in a “neutral“ place: the barn. In each round a card is turned
over. Then all players seek the animal at the same time. If you see it, you quickly
slap on the correct card with one hand and the animal sought is yours. But don’t
slap on the wrong card too quickly or you’ll have to give up one of your animals to
the barn. The winner is the player who has the most animals at the end.
“Zicke Zacke“ is a speedy hiding and reaction game from the publisher’s editorial
team and is ideal as a small gift for any birthday party. The game for two to five
players four and up takes 15 to 20 minutes.
Geistesblitz - a reaction game in a familiar style
Recommended "Kinderspiel des Jahres 2011“
Quick as a flash – recognize, snatch, react quicker than your fellow players.
”Geistesblitz“ by author Jacques Zeimet is a lightning fast reaction game for up to
eight players eight and up. The main figures in the game are a bottle, mouse, chair,
book and ghost, each in their individual colors. These are placed in the center of the
table. Cards turned over decide which object is to be snatched. If the figure is shown
in the original color then this is the object sought. If both figures are not shown in the
original color players try to quickly snatch the figure that corresponds neither in color
nor form. The winner is the fastest player, who has the most cards at the end.
Playing together, reaching for objects at the same time ensures that ”Geistesblitz“
is great interactive fun – so each game round starts off well. For 2 to 8 players with 8
years and up.
