Dates to be arranged when we have sufficient interest
Thank you for your enquiry about the above workshops in microsurgery. I enclose a provisional
workshop programme to give you an idea of the course content. As you will see it is almost entirely
practical. The final two days can be altered to suit the particular requirements of each individual.
The registration fee of £1500 covers the cost of the Home Office Licence to operate on animals
(£242) and all sutures, animals, instruments, microscopes and light refreshments, but no meals,
accommodation or travel. Midday meals can be obtained in the hospital. You can pay this fee by
cheque or by credit/debit card, although for the latter we pass on the handling fees charged by the
credit card company.
If accommodation is required, guest house accommodation provided by MRS MARY CAHILL (Tel:
0208 907 1419, email: [email protected]) who charges £35 per night bed/breakfast, is
good value.
Alternatively, the Premier Inn, Kenton Road (Tel: 020 8907 1671) is £39 upwards for a double room
(all rooms are double) with bathroom (breakfast extra). Each of the above are within easy walking
distance of the hospital.
Please make your own arrangements in good time before the workshops as alternatives in this area are
poor. Would you please make sure that any cars brought onto the hospital site are parked in the
visitor’s fee paying car park as vehicles parked in staff car parks will be clamped.
As these workshops are invariably oversubscribed, a place can only be confirmed by payment of the
registration fee and will be booked on a strict first-come-first-served basis. Cheques should be made
out to NPIMR (participants from abroad please ensure cheques are drawn on a British Bank) or you
can phone the Administration Office (020 8869 3265) with your credit card details, or complete the
enclosed payment form.

Personal Home Office Licences to operate on animals are necessary to take part in the course. The
application has to be submitted to the Home Office at least 4 weeks before the course starts, so it is
essential that you complete the process promptly. If the application arrives within the four weeks
before the course starts, there is a chance the home office will not process your licence in time, and all
fees will be non-refundable.
Once you return the application form to us, we will begin the on-line application process for you. You
will receive an email from the Home Office instructing you to sign in to their system within 24 hours.
From there you can fill out the form on the website. We will, of course, be on hand to answer any
questions you have on this process.
These workshops can rapidly fill up so please return completed forms and payment as soon as
possible to ensure your place. Please note, cancellations will result in a refund with the licence fee
plus 10% administration fee deducted. Cancellations within 1 month of the course start date will be
non-refundable.
Yours sincerely
