BULLDOG BULLETIN FEBRUARY 2013 A meeting was held last month to vote on whether the club will continue with its investigation into a move to Central Oval in the future and there was an overwhelming vote in favour of this decision with over 170 for and 30 against the move. A sub committee will be formed to progress this decision with liaison with the Council to continue when the project commences. There is a link to the you-tube video that outlines the Central Oval redevelopment in case you haven’t seen it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kc0G4MvuWEs Footy training is in full swing with the balls coming out and of course an increase in numbers after some hard work on the track. The boys had a successful pre season camp at Pichi Richi park with some good work including an orientation course around the hills, luckily no-one was lost. Many thanks to Jodie and Nick Boully for their hospitality and patience, reports were that some lads were still going strong at 5am on the Sunday. The boys also supported sponsor Transcontinental Hotel at Quorn with Couttsy and Kean being named amongst the best players on the night. Well done to the Footy Committee who organised and other helpers including Harry Waterworth, Brett Johns, John Orenshaw, Kean, Buck and Couttsy. Pre season news is that Tim Amos is going to play for us instead of going to Adelaide, Jimmy Little is making a comeback, Chris Collins is making a comeback and Bluey even has Adam Dipaolo out training so things are looking better. Bluey says that Brock Laube has done extra work with him doing boxing and skipping, Mark Horner, doesn’t miss many trainings and does his own running and Ben Trewartha has been exceptional together with Tyson Black who has been committed. Both Collins boys are going strong and have had there pins in their arms removed and always train and the U18s that are well committed and will push players in higher grades are Slade Laube, Sam Maule, Caleb Ritter, and first year player Dylan Barnett is going well. Finally Lachy Barrett is super fit and Boof calls him the new Juices Heron, look out A Graders. Robert Laube last week resigned from his position as Under 18s coach due to work commitments with the position to be advertised in next weeks Transcontinental newspaper. The applications will close on Friday 8th March. Robert has been a long term and successful coach having taken the Under 18s to the last 2 years SGL Grand finals and over 170 players coached by him have played A Grade football. We wish Choco all the best for the future and he says that we will still see him around the place. Footy Trials have been organised against Kimba on the 6th April in Port Augusta and Crystal Brook, the Northern Areas Premiers in 2013 on Saturday 23rd March at Port Augusta and they should both be great games , Kimba giving us a good flogging last year and we are keen to make amends. The club needs an Under 9s coach after Anthony Anno had to resigned due to work commitments when his role required him to travel away more regularly. If you are a parent of an Under 9 or keen to give it a go please contact David Williams on 0418 841 994 as soon as possible. This is an important position as it may be a players first contact with the club and hopefully a long term relationship. All Sponsors and Vice Presidents will be asked to attend our Guernsey Presentation this year to present Guernseys to our senior list in 2013. Keep a look out for the date in the Trans and invites will be sent out soon. There was great support for the cause on the day with all players wearing the Pink Hats, wicket keeping pads and the stumps supplied by the McGrath Foundation. Over $1,200 is estimated to be raised for the cause with collection tins till to be counted.
