28 April 2017 Executives of Bankstown Jets TA and Bankstown Sports TA Dear all, Please be advised in relation to the current situation that now confronts the sport in the Bankstown area and the advice from Bankstown Jets of their decision to withdraw from the agreement to move toward a one entity model the NSWTA Board has considered its position. In doing so they have taken in to consideration the efforts of the Association to facilitate this outcome over the past 12 months being; A number of meetings (jointly with representatives of both affiliates, separately with each organization, with parents) Length phone conversations with both representatives of both affiliates Creation of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between both organisations to work toward a one entity model Creation of a duel pathway model for representative participation A revised model of cooperation devised following the Jets demands of the Seniors In undertaking this exercise the Board is disappointed with the decision of Bankstown Jets and do not see this as a positive move for the sport in the area. They are also disappointed that representative issues have hijacked the process ahead of a best outcome for the sport in the area. The Board acknowledges that initially both parties were willing to participate in this goal. To be fair it would have been both parties default position to stand alone, however in the early stages both could see the advantages to the sport within the whole community that a one entity model would provide for. The ramification of the Jets decision to now withdraw and the subsequent wants of both parties from that decision have placed the NSWTA in the unenviable position of forming a view that for the Association and the sport at large, regardless of that position is a no win scenario. NSWTA Board has had to make a decision on a position going forward to try to appease both parties. Given the wants of both this is difficult and we have looked at a compromise position. That position is; On the basis of the Jets withdrawal from participating in moving to a one entity model the following is the NSWTA position. The success of this model was to have lead to sustainability of the sport in the area and attempt to align the interests of both organisations. The efforts of the NSWTA to facilitate this outcome over the past 12 months have been; A number of meetings (jointly with representatives of both affiliates, separately with each affiliate, with parents) Length phone conversations with representatives of both affiliates Creation of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between both organisations to work toward a one entity model Creation of a duel pathway model for representative participation A revised model of cooperation devised following the Jets demands of the Seniors Initially both parties were willing to participate in this goal. To be fair it would have been both parties default position to stand alone, however in the early stages they could see the advantages to the sport within the whole community that a one entity model would provide for. Unfortunately over the journey the Bankstown Jets, representing the views of their members, have slowly withdrawn from the process and become increasingly hesitant to move to a one entity model. This lead to them recently citing a list of demands of the Seniors prior to considering the NSWTA MOU which looked toward moving to a one entity model in a set time frame. The NSWTA had a view on these demands and offered what we believed a workable solution. That solution was; The Bankstown Jets TA run the Junior competition The Bankstown Sports TA run the senior competition Both parties provide 3 members on a joint committee to decide on the framework for a one entity model in 2 years. Both parties provide 3 members to form a joint representative committee to work toward joint goals under the agreed joint representative pathway both parties had signed off on with the NSWTA at the commencement of the process. Unfortunately the Jets decided that this is no longer what they wanted and withdrew from the process and support of a one entity model.
