Team Contract

MWV CAL RIPKEN BASEBALL
Welcome and Thank You for participating in Cal Ripken Baseball. Over the season, your son
and/or daughter will be taught the game of baseball as directed by the Board of Directors of
MWV Cal Ripken Baseball and under the rules of Babe Ruth Baseball. The team’s head coaches
have been certified through the National Babe Ruth Instructional program and all coaches are
required to provide background checks for your child’s safety.
Please take advantage of the League Website: http://mwv.baberuthonline.com You will find
team information, game schedules, the latest league information, and coming events. You can
also visit the new FACEBOOK PAGE: MWV Cal Ripken Baseball.
Each team’s coach will develop a practice schedule and provide information as to their
expectations from the players as well as the parents. This includes game preparations, uniform
and equipment requirements, and communication protocols. Along with this, MWV Cal Ripken
expects the following policies to be agreed upon with the players and parents:
Rules and Expectations of Players
1) Good Sportsmanship: This is a high priority for all. Our goals are to have fun while
learning the game of baseball. Winning is always great, but not at the expense of good
sportsmanship.
2) Respect your team mates, coaches, officials, and the opposition.
3) Be willing to learn. We have many fine coaches with years of experience in playing and
coaching. Many drills and mechanics may be different that what you are used to but are
intended for one thing – making a better baseball player.
4) Listen to the Coaches. For the couple of hours of practice and games, the only adult
instructions are those of the coaches. They are watching for your safety and the best
interest of the team. Again, there is a lot of experience in this league that is excited to
teach the game the right way.
5)
Information for Parents
If a game or practice is cancelled on a school day, it is our intention to have it announced
through the school announcements. If a weekend game is cancelled then one of the coaches
will contact you at the phone number provided by you on the registration form.
Please work with your coach in developing strong communications through the team website.
Any parent with some web skills may offer to help the coach with this. Practice schedules, game
schedules, team photos, persons assigned to field preparation can all be provided on the team
web page to improve communications.
If you are not going to be at all the games and there is a medical condition and/or important
allergies with your child, you should be sure the coach is aware of this and provide the
appropriate means of contacting you in the event of an emergency.
Every player is expected to participate in the ballgame. There is a minimum play rule in effect in
the MWV program. It must be understood that the player skill levels and experience on the
team will affect play time. As your child develops over the seasons, more play time can take
place. During these “lighter” play times, encourage your child to cheer for the team, learn by
observation, help team mates warm up, and track down foul balls. Always be a TEAM PLAYER.
All parents must remember that the game is for the child, not for the adult. Please be
supportive of each player as they are all constantly learning. We are trying to instill that winning
is not everything, but rather how you represent your team and yourself on and off the field. We
expect good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, officials,
and fans at every practice and game.
We encourage parent involvement. Extra help during practices, preparing the game field, and
clean-up after the game/practice is always appreciated. The Conway El, John Fuller, and
sometimes town fields need to be raked smooth before and after use to maintain a quality and
safe field for the players.
No Food is to be brought to the players during the game or practice (unless there is a medical
need). The kids will be fine. Water and sports drinks are acceptable during this time. Parents
may organize for treats after the game. PLEASE… NO ONE NEEDS PIZZA IN THE 3 rd INNING.
As coaches and administrators, we understand that you may not always agree with every
decision that is made on the field. It is our goal to be fair and to make sure that each player is
getting the coaching that he/she may need. If you have an issue with the coach, please wait 24
hours to allow any quick emotions to settle down. All coaches are willing to discuss their
thoughts and policies in a respectful manner. If you are not satisfied with the results of the
discussion with the coach, then you may contact the league administrators (Bill Jones and Kevin
Drew). If there is still dissatisfaction after these two steps, then the NH District 8 Commissioner
may be contacted through the NH Cal Ripken website.
Thank you for your participation and Enjoy the Season!!
