RULES FOR HAWKE’S BAY INTER CLUB COMPETITION - 2017 1. The laws of Squash Rackets for the time being sanctioned by the New Zealand Squash Rackets Association, so far as they are applicable and do not conflict with the following, shall be observed. 2. CONTROLLER The Squash Eastern District Association have appointed the following Interclub Co-Ordinators for the 2017 Season: Jacquie Sutherland Phone: Wayne Kempton Phone: [email protected] 06 833 7483 06 844 2736 Cell: Cell: 021 802 883 027 247 8638 The Interclub Co-ordinators shall be responsible for: a) Preparing the draw for the competition b) Allocating courts for each round c) Ensuring the Interclub Controller is receiving, collating and recording all results d) Adjudicating on any disputes in conjunction with Management e) Ensuring the general conduct of the competition 3. FORMAT The format will be on the same basis as last year: a) The 2017 Interclub competition, to include Men and Women, will be in 6 Divisions. b) Please note, Juniors must have permission from their parents to play Interclub and their parents should be aware of the timing and that transport may be required c) Each Division will consist of three rounds d) Interclub will commence: a. Ladies Tuesday 18th April b. Mixed Wednesday 19th April e) There will be a final’s night for each Division in both the Ladies and Mixed competition with a prize for the winning team and supper provided by the host club 4. TEAM COMPOSITION Teams for each Division shall be submitted in accordance with the following clauses: a) Teams shall consist of a minimum of 4 players in all Divisions with a maximum of 8 players per team b) Player must have been financial member of a Club on each occasion they play in the competition. c) Players may play for only one Club during the competition unless they have the approval of the Interclub Controller to play for another club. d) Grades for Interclub will be taken from the 24th March Grading list. e) f) g) h) i) j) k) Playing order shall be in accordance with the Grading List current on the night of the contest, or in order of ability as agreed by the two Captains. Players within the same ½ grade may play in any order but it is not allowed to play, for instance, a C2 above a C1. NOTE: For interclub points to count, players may only play for their own team during the Interclub season (that is the team in which they are originally named). Only grading points will count if a player plays for another team; the individual interclub match result will not count. NO EXCEPTIONS ALLOWED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Likewise, a player may not play for more than one team in any one night. Again, in this instance, points will only count for grading not interclub Players who are designated reserves and not named in a specific team may play for any team within the scope of their grading/points or higher and these points will count towards interclub. They may only play for the same team twice and will be deemed a member of this team on the third occasion they play for them. At the discretion of the Interclub Controller, a player re-graded down during the competition may transfer to a lower Division. Divisions have been split as follows: Division One: 2816-3015 Division Two: 2166-2545 Division Three: 1742-2163 Division Four: 1320-1583 Division Five: 1013-1178 Division Six: 625-877 5. PLAYING TIMES a) The Interclub Competition shall be played on a Tuesday and Wednesday as per Rule 3d. b) Play will commence at 7pm at all venues. If a team does not have 3 players present and available to play within fifteen minutes of the starting time, the team shall default all matches to the opposition. c) Sufficient courts at all Clubs shall be made available for Interclub on Tuesday and Wednesday nights as appropriate. d) This shall be a weekly competition for all grades. 6. SCORING a) For each contest the match between each pair of players shall be the best of 5 games. The game and points score for each match is to be recorded on the official result card for the contest. b) All teams must provide referees and markers c) Host Clubs must provide result cards. d) Approved balls are to be used for the respective grades. e) The two captains are responsible for ensuring that the result card is completed correctly and the HOST TEAM (this includes teams who are playing their “home” matches “away) must ensure these are scanned and sent by email or smart phone to Interclub Controller ([email protected]) to be received no later than midday on Thursday following the Interclub night’s competition so these can be sent to HB Today in time for press deadline for Friday’s edition. Please do not enter results into iSquash, but leave this to the Interclub Controller. 7. POINTS These shall be allocated as follows: a) 1 point for each game won b) 2 bonus points for the winning team – i.e. a team who wins all 4 matches wins 14 points c) In the event of a draw, the tie will be decided on a count back on games and if still a draw, points d) In the event of a tie – matches, games, points – one bonus point will be awarded to each team 8. ENTRY FEE The entry fee per team shall be determined by the District Association and has been set for 2017 at $70.00 + GST ($80.50) per team for all Divisions. This should be paid to your Club Administrator prior to the first day of Interclub. 9. SUPPER Please note that some “home” matches are being played “away”. This especially relates to Havelock North. In these instances, these matches are clearly marked on the draw and it is the home team’s responsibility to provide supper following that match. 10. DISPUTES Any disputes regarding these rules are to be submitted in writing to the Interclub Controller who shall adjudicate on the matter in conjunction with 2 officials from District Management prior to the commencement of the Interclub competition.
