Participation in this tournament is open to all clubs and International Federations.
WKF Rules will be applied in the Tournament.
International Competitors can make payment before the Championships by e-mail.
All entries are final. Please copy one appropriate form per competitor. Ensure all entry forms are completed correctly
as incorrect age information may result in disqualification from the tournament.

members (living at the same address) is $10 for each additional competitor.
A Karate New Zealand registered player must hold a current KNZ License and be able to provide membership

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY:
The Tournament Organiser must receive all entry forms by 18th April,
information. Entry forms received with no entry fee will not be accepted.

COMPETITION RULES
As per current WKF Rules with the following modifications
KUMITE RULES TO APPLY TO ALL KARATE NEW ZEALAND (UNZKO) SANCTIONED TOURNAMENTS:
On scoring/contact:
1. 9 yrs and under – Techniques to the head can score but absolutely NO contact will be allowed. Any contact at all,
(unless by Mubobi) including skin touch, will be penalised. The first player to 8 points or the player with the most points
at the time up will be deemed the winner.
2. 10-13 yrs - Techniques to the head can score but absolutely NO contact will be allowed. Any contact at all, (unless by
Mubobi) including skin touch, will be penalised.
3. 14yrs+ - Cadet (14/15), Juniors (16/17) and seniors (18+) – as per WKF rulebook.

KATA TO BE JUDGED AS FOLLOWS:
The judging of all Kata competition will follow the WKF flag system, either 3 or 5 judges.
Children’s Compulsory Kata list: Heian, Pinan, Gekusai, Saifa, or any other Kihon Kata.
In the divisions 9 yrs and under competitors are required to perform “Compulsory Kata Only” (as listed above).
Competitors can repeat Kata.
For 10-13yrs, the new WKF rules will apply. Free choice in all rounds, no repetition.
For Veteran and Super Veteran Free choice in all rounds, no repetition.
For WKF Divisions 14/15, 16/17 & 16yrs+, the new WKF rules will apply. Free choice Kata in all rounds, no repetition
permitted.

Repechage:
Divisions with three competitors will be run round robin with the placing’s decided on the number of wins achieved. If each
competitor has one win each then placing’s will be decided on total points scored. If total points scored are even then total
points scored against will be calculated with the lowest total declared the winner.
Divisions with four competitors will have a match between the two competitors who have not won a match to decide on one
third place.
Divisions with four to eight competitors will have one third place decided using the repechage system
Divisions with nine or more competitors will use repechage to decide the third-equal placing’s.
For Karate, repechage involves the competitors who were beaten by a finalist playing-off to decide the 3rd / 3rd equal
placing/s. This means that all medal winners, except possibly for third-place in a round-robin division, will have won at least
one match.
Coaches
As per WKF rules, follow the code of behaviour and the dress code, namely club or national tracksuit. Only one coach
can be on the mat at a time, only official coaches on the mat and in the warm up area.
