Buckinghamshire Youth Wind Ensemble 2016 Season We are delighted to announce the launch of the new Buckinghamshire Youth Wind Ensemble. This group is for senior wind players who want to challenge themselves in exploring professional repertoire in an ensemble where every player is a soloist! The group will consist of Flutes (including Piccolo), Oboes (including Cor Anglais), Clarinets (including Eb & Bass), Bassoons, Saxophones (Alto, Tenor, Baritone), Horns, Trumpets, Trombones (Tenor & Bass), Euphonium, Tuba, Percussion and String Bass. It will be one player per part and perform both arranged and specifically composed repertoire from a range of genres. Phillip will be supported by Ed Hodgson from BLTM, who leads the Concert Band at HWMC and is currently touring with Mack & Mabel as Musical Director. Application process: We are keen to encourage applications from any young person either resident or at school in Buckinghamshire between the age of 11 and 19. You must be at Grade 7 level or above on your selected instrument and be willing to commit to the full programme for the year. You should fill in this form – it can be printed or downloaded and typed into – and return it by post or email to the contacts at the bottom. The programme runs on days during the school holidays and so is open to students in their first year at University as well. This means that if you are in Y13 you will be able to continue into the 2016/17 programme that will include an overseas tour. Programme of events: Launch Day: SUNDAY 3RD JANUARY 10am – 3pm at Aylesbury Music Centre There will be an informal performance for parents and friends at 3pm Schedule: All rehearsal days at Aylesbury Music Centre Sunday 21st February Sunday 10th April Monday 11th April Saturday 4th June There will be two main performances in June and July, one at the BLT Summer Festival on Sunday 19th June and another in a major venue. Other performance opportunities will be added as they arise. Repertoire will include works by Gustav Holst, Charles Ives, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Fergal Carroll, William Grant Still & Norman Dello Joio. Auditions: You can enroll for the Launch Day without audition, provided you are working towards Grade 7 or above. Players will be assessed during the launch day and further auditions will be arranged if required. Fees: The launch day is free and registration for the season will take place on that day. The fee for the season, including all elements above is £120. This will be payable after registration in January. Subsidies are available for students eligible for FSM (50%) and siblings (25%). BYWE supports all applicants and will consider any application for additional subsidy on a case by case basis in discussion with the Director of Music.
