IMMMEDIATE RELEASE PRESS RELEASE SPENDING SPREE FOR CHULMLEIGH Five Players win £25,000 each with People’s Postcode Lottery Many players in Chulmleigh will be celebrating this week after winning £25,000 each when postcode, EX18 7BP, was drawn as a winner in this week’s Saturday Street Prize. Maurice Dayman, Brenda Budden, Julie Baron, Thomas Stevens and Michael Cooper-Yeoman were all delighted with their win. Brenda Budden, 65, was very surprised to receive a visit from People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador and rugby legend, Scott Quinnell. “I just looked at Scott completely dumbfounded,” she said. “I’m stunned but it’s a very nice feeling.” Although shocked, Brenda does have some initial plans for her winnings. “It’s my husband Ron’s 70th birthday next year,” she said. “I’d like to use the money to have a big celebration. We have recently bought a caravan so I’d love to travel around France together as well as treating my sons and grandchildren.” Brenda’s neighbour Julie Baron, 60, was just as surprised to receive her cheque for £25,000. “I am over the moon,” she said. “I have been shaking all morning and I still can’t stop” Julie, a retired private coach driver, was delighted not to be the only winner. “It’s so nice that four of my neighbours won with me and we all know each other,” she said. Grandmother Julie is planning to visit her family in Buckinghamshire for Christmas as well as giving some money to her son and grandchildren. Maurice Dayman, 68, was joined by his wife Sue who was excited to meet Scott Quinnell. “My wife had seen Scott on TV and he gave her a big hug,” he said. “We’re over the moon, what a big surprise for Christmas.” Neighbour Michael Cooper-Yeoman joined the other winners and was thrilled to have won after only one month of playing. “It’s amazing,” he said. “Everyone should play as it’s simple, easy and very well run.” And final winner, Thomas Stevens, 29, was just as thrilled as his fellow winners and couldn’t resist taking a selfie with presenter, Scott. “This is the most I’ve ever won,” he said. “It’s great that we can all share the excitement together.” As a charity lottery, players have raised over £56.1 million for charities and good causes across Great Britain and internationally. One local cause to be awarded £3,690 from players of People’s Postcode Lottery is the 1st Holsworthy Scout Group for new troop tents.
