Real STL
Team Setup & Helpful Information
A guide for coaches and team managers
Binder & Paperwork
Get Started - Get Organized … Team managers should utilize a binder with tabs and plastic sleeves to keep
copies of all player documentation. Team managers should have the team binder with you for all games
and tournaments. Items to keep in the binder include:
player information forms or team roster with emergency contact information/club policies
medical release form
copy of birth certificate
copy of signed team roster
Player cards... A quick-open type key ring is a great idea to keep the player cards organized. Player cards
must be presented to the referees at each league game and at check-in for tournaments. Discuss with the
coaches who will be responsible for the player cards.
Tournaments ... fill additional plastic sleeves with information from each tournament the team plays in.
Finish it off by printing the bracket and game scores for easy future reference.
Player Documentation
Player documentation is for the team record. It does not need to be turned into MYSA or SLYSA. Team
managers should have the following documents in the team binder for each player:
___ Player Profile Form Optional. MYSA form is obsolete but good to collect information needed for GotSoccer player setup.
Optionally use the profile form provided having parents complete first two sections.
___ Copy of birth certificate
___ Completed Missouri Medical Release Form including copy of insurance card carry these at all times and
have to show them at tournaments, per MYSA.org this form no longer needs to be notarized
Checking Account
Team managers should establish a team checking account. We have been advised by Bank of America
(where Real STL Soccer Club banks) that team managers/coaches should open a separate checking
account using their own social security number. In Missouri you can register for a fictitious corporation
name. This allows team managers and coaches to establish a checking account DBA (doing business as)
your team name, Real STL 00-01 Boys Soccer, for example. Check with the team coach; you are
encouraged to have a minimum of 2 signers for the account.
Budget
Refer to the Real STL Club Fee Policy for details on what is included. Additional items to consider
when creating a team budget:
SLYSA Fall and Spring
SLYSA forfeit fee ($170) to first time teams or if you have experienced a forfeit and had to use the
fee (it rolls after that)
Coach or other Training Fees
Winter training, futsal or indoor leagues
Additional training gear for team, additional training shirts, team soccer balls, tournament gifts
Tournaments, including coach expenses if they do not have a player on the team (hotel rooms)
Contact [email protected] to request templates that can be used to help budget and track team
finances. These will eventually be securely posted in the coaches area of our club website.
GotSoccer.com
GotSoccer.com is the MYSA registration website. Players, coaches and teams all have accounts. There are
3 types of individual accounts in GotSoccer that we will deal with for our teams:
Coach -- each coach, primary or assistant, maintains their own GotSoccer account. They have or will have KidSafe
background checks associated with their accounts.
Managers - Per MYSA recommendation -- this would be filled in ONLY if the manager is a coach or involved in
training the players. This will not apply for most managers. Please ONLY list your information in the Contact
section.
Players - players/families all have access to their own player GotSoccer accounts.
The TeamAccount is shared by the coaches and manager for each team. Coaches/managers will access GotSoccer to
print SLYSA Game Cards and can search 'Events' to sign up for SLYSA league and tournaments all over the country.
Not all soccer associations place their tournaments in GotSoccer, but many do.
Player Cards & Team Rosters
After August 1st each soccer year rosters and player cards will be printed for each team. Complete the
following items to request coach/player cards and official roster processing and printing:
Team verified; all rostered players listed in GotSoccer with correct jersey number and photo uploaded
(preferred)
Coach accounts registered and have background check approved in GotSoccer
Coach has submitted copy of their coaching license to Real STL
Club fees paid for all players (as verified by our club treasurer)
Email sent to [email protected] confirming that the team roster is correct and final. Provide
address to mail cards/roster to (or arrange to pickup).
Team managers should have players sign their cards and if you did not upload photos in GotSoccer you
must affix a player photo to the card before you laminate it. Office supply stores such as Office Max or
Office Depot offer laminating services for a fee. When laminating try to align the cards to the same end for
all cards so after it is laminated you can hole punch the corner of each card and place them on a easy open
key ring. Give the player the tear off portion of the player card; they can "put it in their wallet".
Real St. Louis locks rosters once printed. Contact [email protected] to request any updates.
Uniforms
All uniforms issued last year can be reused this year (uniforms are good for two years). Any uniform
complications need to go through Real STL’s uniform consultant Shannon Walck.

St. Louis Youth Soccer Association SLYSA
The SLYSA information sheet attached for 2013-2014 details the fees. New teams will have to pay the
$170 forfeit fee their first season. The $18 registration fee noted is paid by Real St. Louis. You do not need
to include that in your team budget.
Once the team schedules are released you will know how many games you will be billed for. At this point
SLYSA will send each team their league invoice via email.
Printing SLYSA Game Cards
Upon login into GotSoccer select the current league event. Select the Schedule tab and launch the PDF file
for the proper game. Print and make any necessary updates - cross out any player that is not in attendance
and write in any guest or at large players. If you are the home team you MUST present the updated card to
the referees. As a general rule, bring a game card to every game; especially if you have updates.
