SUSTAINABLE
PURSUIT GAME
”Flag
Hunt”
By Lauttasaari Primary School
”FLAG HUNT”
What do you need to produce:
 The game board (see the separate powerpoint)
 Monster Cards (small cards with the image of the
monster and writings on the back of it)
 Earth Cards (small cards with the picture of the
earth and writings on the back of it)
 Flag Cards (small cards with the picture of all the
flags of the countries involved in our project)
 Pursuit Question Cards
To play you need:
a dice and buttons for each player to play with
The aim of the game
 The aim is to collect the flag of each country
and arrive to the final stop after the Cypriot
flag.
 You must make the whole journey on the game
board. The journey starts from the Portuguese
flag and ends to Cypriot flag.
 You advance on the board according to the
number of the dice and to the orders that you
get from different cards.
>>>
Stopping on a question mark: You must always stop on it!
 Answer to the question represented in the pursuit card. If
your answer is correct you will get the flag of the country.
If the answer is wrong you must wait for the next turn and
take a new card from the pursuit card pile.
 If you fail again, after trying three times to answer to the
questions, you are allowed to continue your journey even
if you don’t get the right answer. But you will not get the
flag.
 The winner is the one who has collected all the flags and
arrives first to the final stop ”finish”.
 If the first arrival doesn’t have all the flags he must wait on
the last question mark for as many turns as missing flags
and answer to one pursuit question per turn before
announced to be the winner.
Stopping on the Monster or on the Earth:
 Take a card from the Monster/Earth pile.
 Read out loud the things said on the card and do what is
ordered.
Monster Cards:
.
-
Each card includes a phrase or two which is/are taken from the
environmental problems caused by the monster of the Fairy
Tale.
If you like, these can be other problems as well, not only from
the Fairy Tale.
The amount of the cards is open but there should be a good
pile of them.
The player reads the text from the card out loud and then takes
three steps back.
Example:
The waterdropstealer monster has stolen almost all water and
you have used too much water in the shower so take three
steps back.
You threw a used battery in the dustbin, present your
apologies to your partners and take three steps back.
Earth Cards
The player receives credit to have done good
environmental things.
Each card includes a phrase or two about good
environmental/sustainable action.
 Example:
- You walked to school instead of taking a lift on
your dad’s car. Take two steps forward.
- You didn’t throw any food away from your
lunch plate. Take two steps forward.
- You gave your good old toys to your little
neighbours instead of throwing them into the
dustbin. Take two steps forward.
Sustainable Questions
 Question cards of the project
 You must always stop on a question mark
(= pursuit questions) and when you have a right
answer you will get the flag of the country
 You must stay on the question mark as long as
you will get the right answer but after three
turns you must continue
 If you step on the same question mark a
second time, you don’t have to take a question
card. Continue your journey on next turn.
Some details
 On the game board you will put three piles of
cards: monster, earth and pursuit question.
 When you step on the board either on the
Monster or on the Earth you will have to take
the equivalent card from the pile and read it out
and do what it says.
 When you step on a question mark you must
take a card from the pursuit question pile and
answer to the question.
 The journey starts from Portugal and ends to
Cyprus
