Use Of The Penalty Marker
• Should be tucked out of sight
• Discretion, officiating position, and game situation should determine
whether you throw a flag!
• As a general rule:
• Dead Ball Foul – Air it (i.e., encroachment)
• Live Ball Foul – Throw to spot (i.e., holding)
Requesting a measurement
• Must be made prior to the ready-for-play signal
• Must be made in a courteous manner
• If it is obvious that the line to gain has or has not been reached, the
request will be denied
