RIMBLE has announced the acquisition of Rawson Control Systems, a private company originally based in Oelwein, Iowa. Rawson makes hydraulic and electronic controls for ag equipment, including variable-rate planter drives and controllers, variablerate fertilizer controllers, mechanical remote electric control valves, and speed reducers. Rawson’s products will work with the Trimble FieldManager Display, and the controllers can be operated either automatically by GPS solutions or manually. The aim, according to a Trimble press announcement, is to create a “fully integrated solution in the flow and application control market.” Erik Arveson, general manager for Trimble’s ag division, comments: “Rawson complements our recent Tru Count acquisition. Our focus is to provide complete end-to-end solutions for our customers, especially in the application control area.” Timing may not be bad here as input prices remain a rising cost for most operations. The company notes that grain supplies remain historically low despite record production levels, and current prices don’t reflect supply and demand levels that actually exist in the market.
