VEX IQ League Play Best Practices Overview

VEX IQ League Play
Best Practices
Overview
League play is an exciting way to engage students in STEM activities on a
frequent basis using the VEX IQ Challenge. Playing in multiple League
events provides students with the opportunity to improve their robot design
and game strategy and spreads out and reinforces the learning cycle.
The following are a few of the “Best Practices” and suggestions for a VEX
IQ League Partner to consider:
 Select a location that is central to most of the teams.
 Select dates and times that are convenient for most of the teams.
Weekday events after school may present a good option.
 The VEX IQ Challenge game field is easy to set up, take down, and
store. Encourage the students to help with this process. Before the
start of robot matches, the referee or the League coordinator should
review the field(s) to ensure that the set up meets the requirements in
the Game Manual.
 If League events will be held in different locations, consider sharing
resources to save time and expense.
 Space the League Play dates at intervals that allow teams time to
consider and implement robot design and game strategy
improvements.
 Consider a “Simple Set-up”. While technology can be used to
enhance the experience of all participants, a simple approach,
including one computer with a monitor and one projector, will work
well.
 Review the “VEX IQ League Play” document and resources designed
to support the planning and coordination of successful VEX IQ
Challenge events on this site:

Thank you for your support in making these unique STEM learning
opportunities possible for your students.
