United States Gaming Industry Overview U.S. gaming revenue grew 7% in 2004 to reach an all-time high of $77.6 billion. Tribal gaming showed the greatest increase, up 12% from 2003 revenues. Lotteries and commercial casino and card room revenue grew more than 6% in 2004. Charitable gaming, race and sports wagering declined from 2003 totals. Commercial casino and card room gaming led other gaming segments with a 39% share of total revenue, lotteries accounted for 28%, and tribal gaming came in at 25%. U.S. State Gaming Revenue per Capita In 2004, gaming revenue in Nevada reached $4,500 per resident on average, or 12% of the state’s GDP. Mississippi came in a clear second with $1,078 per capita, followed by Delaware with $886. With its large population, California only placed 23rd with $230 in gaming revenue per resident despite ranking second in overall gaming revenue.
