Every morning, at 7:00 the alarm clock sounds.
I open my eyes, brush my teeth and comb my

Yesterday morning I opened my eyes at 7:30.

At 7:55 I opened the door and rushed to school.
I ran as quickly as I could and I came to
school on time.
When we speak about an action that happened
in the past and was finished, we use the
Simple Past.

Last summer, I was in Haifa.
When my mother was a child she was beautiful.
When we were in summer camp, my parents were
in England.
When we speak about habits in the past or about
general truths and descriptions in the past, we
use the Simple Past.

When? – Commonly used time expressions
Time expressions that usually indicate the
simple past:
yesterday
a… (moment/ week/month/ year) ago
last… (night/Sunday/week/month/year)
in/on a past date (in 1960 / on 25/10/1960)

How do we form it?
AUsually, we make the simple past by adding –
ed to the base form of the verb.

Irregular Verbs
Irregular verbs are verbs that don’t get –ed at
the end in the past form.
Here are some examples:
