Supervise, orientate and be responsible for the standard of care given by all nurses and students on placement in the haemodialysis unit. Be accountable and responsible for the economic use of resources Knowledge of and adherence to Colac Area Health and Nursing Division Policies and procedures. Assist with the formulation and implementation of the policies and procedures of the Nursing Division and recommend change, as necessary, to the Nursing Practice Committee Actively participate in unit, and interdepartmental meetings as requested or nominated Participate in committees to further develop nursing practice at CAH. Liase with Clinical Coordinator Home & Satellite Haemodialysis Unit Barwon Health Renal Unit as required for haemodialysis issues. Be familiar with current costs. Keep a log of biomedical equipment used with patient transfers to ensure return. Be familiar with and have a working knowledge of computer access to all policies, rosters and risk records, and be able to pass this knowledge on. Participate in the review of current policies and contribute to the development of new policy. Evidenced by minutes of meetings. Colac Area Health Approved By: Director Date of Issue: DATE Number: PD ### Page 6 of 13 Position Description Haemodialysis machine management All haemodialysis machine and equipment are the responsibility of Barwon Health Perform daily Chlorine check to ensure safe levels for dialysis Perform microbial and other testing of equipment as directed by parent unit Monitor the functioning and safety systems of the machines as per Barwon Health PROMPT protocols Immediately report faults to the Barwon Health Renal technicians. Change filters as indicated. If no improvement in chlorine levels, contact renal techinician to change carbon tank. Report high bacterial counts and arrange Reverse Osmosis machine change over.
