WAA Travel Baseball is the largest and most inclusive travel baseball program in the greater Woodbury area. We are open to players that live or attend school within Woodbury boundaries, as well as players whose parents work in Woodbury. We form teams from U10-U15. The City of Woodbury mandates that all travel players be at least 9 years old by May 1, 2017. We require extensive training for our coaches for certification and provide off-season coaches training in the fundamentals of baseball. The mission of our program is to develop baseball players with good skills that will continue to develop to a level of excellence that will be passed on to our high school program. We will develop players not only on the field but also instill a sense of responsibility and community pride in all players who participate. We will promote strong character both on and off the field along with promoting good will among our teams and opponents. We will insist on good sportsmanship and proper behavior. Most importantly, we want EVERYONE to have fun and enjoy their experience with our program. This includes players, coaches, parents and fans. We want our opponents, their fans and even the umpires to enjoy their experience with our program. Our ultimate goal as an organization is to be recognized as the standard of excellence by other communities and we want as many as possible to be part of it. All WAA travel teams have indoor winter workouts that start in late January and run through early April. Teams play 14-16 league games and anywhere from 2-5 tournaments. Parents have input on the number and location of tournaments. The regular season starts around May 1 and ends in mid-July with State Tournaments and the August Classic. Tryouts for the 2017 baseball season will be held Saturday and Sunday, September 10-11; all ages will tryout at the Bielenberg Sports Center ball fields. WAA uses only experienced, impartial non-parent evaluators who are not part of the WAA program. Saturday’s workouts will include hitting, infield and outfield drills that will be scored. Sunday’s workouts will include timed running, pitching and catching. Your child will register for a SPECIFIC tryout time for Saturday; Sunday’s workouts will be run from 9am-12pm and ALL players are required to attend during that time. To register your child for travel baseball, please go to www.waawoodbury.org or call (651) 731-0100. Registration will remain open until the afternoon of Friday, September 9. WAA travel baseball played a big part in every player on the Woodbury HS roster that placed 3rd in the Minnesota State Class AAAA State Tournament in 2016
