The Lynbrook Little League Board of Directors have found these rules to be the most problematic and
suggests that you read them in their entirety in your 2017 Rule book.
A GAME
Cannot be started with less than nine (9) players. Rule 4.16 Page 87
If during a game either team is unable to place nine (9) players on the field due to injury or ejection,
the game cannot be continued and shall be referred to the Board of Directors. Rule 4.17 Page 87
NO PLAYER
Will be allowed to play in a game unless they are wearing a full uniform which consists of: Shirt,
pants, cap, socks, and Little League patch properly affixed to the upper left sleeve. There is to be no
switching of blouses. Any part of a pitcher’s undershirt or T-shirt exposed to view shall be of a solid
color. A pitcher shall not wear any items on his/her hands, wrists or arms, which may be distracting
to the batter. NOTE: White or Gray long sleeve shirts are not permitted. Rule 1.11 (3) Page 66
Casts
May not be worn during the game. NOTE: Persons wearing casts, including manager and coaches,
must remain in the dugout during the game. Rule 1.11 (k) Page 66
WEATHER
The umpire-in chief shall be the sole judge as to whether and when play shall be suspended during a
game because of unsuitable weather conditions. Said umpire shall not call the game until at least
thirty minutes after play was suspended. Rule 3.10 (b) Page 79
VI – PITCHERS
(a) Any player on a regular season team may pitch. Exception: Any player, who has played the
position of catcher in four (4) or more innings in a game, is not eligible to pitch on that calendar day.
(b) A pitcher once removed from the mound cannot return as a pitcher.
(c) The manager must remove the pitcher when said pitcher reaches the limit for his/her age group as
noted below, pitcher may remain in the game at another position.
Note: A pitcher who delivers 41 or more pitches in a game cannot play the position of catcher for the
remainder of that day.
League Age 9 – 10 - Limit - 75 pitches per day
Rest requirements:
If a player pitches 1-20 pitches in a day, no (0) calendar day of rest required.
If a player pitches 21-35 pitches in a day, one (1) calendar day of rest is required
If a player pitches 36-50 pitches in a day, two (2) calendar days of rest must be observed.
If a player pitches 51-65 pitches in a day, three (3) calendar days of rest must be observed.
If a player pitches 66 or more pitches in a day, four (4) calendar days of rest must be observed.

The Manager or coach, after calling time and getting permission from the Umpire, may visit his pitcher
at the mound. This rule, which applies to each pitcher who enters the game, governs the number of
visits. Rule 8.06 Page 113
MANAGERS or COACHES
Must not warm up a pitcher at home plate or in bullpen or elsewhere at any time. Rule 3.09 Page 79
No one except eligible players in uniform, a manager and not more than two coaches shall occupy the
bench or dugout. Rule 3.17 Page 80
There has to be one adult manager or coach in the dugout. Rule 4.05 (b) Page 82
COMPOSITE BATS
Composite barrel bats are prohibited unless approved and licensed by Little League. Please check
website www.Littleleague.org for a list of approved composite bats. Rule 1.10 Page 64
The Batter
The batter is out for illegal action when – (d) The batter enters the batter’s box with one or both feet
entirely on the ground with an illegal bat (see bat specifications Rule 1.10 Page 64) 0r is discovered
having used an illegal bat prior to the next player entering the batter’s box. Rule 6.06 Page 94
INTENTIONAL WALK
Prior to a pitch being thrown, the defense elects to “Intentionally Walk” the batter by announcing such
decision to the plate umpire. Rule 608 (a) (2) Page 97
THE INFIELD FLY RULE Is in effect in all divisions of Lynbrook Little League. Infield Fly - Page 72
CONTINUOUS BATTING ORDER
This will include all players on the team roster present when the game starts, batting in order. Each
player will be required to bat in his/her respective spot in the batting order. Rule 4.04 Pages 81
MANDATORY PLAY
Every player on a team roster will participate in each game for a minimum of six (6) defensive outs
and bats at least one (1) time. Regulation IV – Players (i) Page 39
LENGTH OF INNING
An INNING is the portion of a game within which the teams alternate on offense and defense and in
which there are three putouts for each team. Each team’s time at bat is a half-inning. It will be held
that an inning starts the moment the third out is made completing the preceding inning.
