Fall 2013- Spring 2014
Program Description
The Certificate of Welding Specialist program is designed to provide a student with an intensive and thorough training in
the welding field. Several welding techniques will be studied and practiced during the 20-week program. The program
concludes with one certification test in our AWS accredited testing facility. Students who complete this program will
become prepared for employment on the local or national level.
OTC offers one session each fall and spring semesters with the following hours:
 Monday thru Friday
7:00am. – 3:00 p.m.
Admission Requirements
Students must submit an OTC Application for Admission and have an official high school or GED transcript on file at OTC.
Admission Checklist
1. Contact Leslie Dawson or Matthew Scott (417-447-2622) to be added to the list of interested students.
2. Determine grant eligibility by meeting with Wilma May at the Missouri Career Center 417-841-3362.
Beginning in Fall 2013, this program will only be offered to students who qualify for the MoManufacturingWINs
grant. This grant provides zero cost tuition and is a significant savings to the student.
3. Complete and submit an OTC application for admission at www.otc.edu . No application fee is required.
4. Submit your official High School or GED transcript to OTC.
 Mail to: OTC Admissions, 1001 E. Chestnut Expressway, Springfield, MO, 65810 or Fax to: 417-447-6925.
 Students who have graduated from high school but have not yet received a high school diploma or
transcript must provide OTC with a letter signed by the high school principal or superintendent that
specifically states the student has met the requirements for graduation. The letter must be on school
letterhead. An official transcript must be submitted to OTC once graduation/school year is complete.
 The first 18 applicants who have completed all required steps will be admitted to the Certificate of
Welding Specialist program. All other interested applicants will be placed on a waiting list.
 It is very important you keep us updated if your contact information changes. If we are unable to
make contact with you, the next student on the waiting list will be offered the seat.
5. Apply for Financial Aid.
 Fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.gov.
 Use the PIN SITE to register for a PIN (used to sign the FAFSA) at www.pin.ed.gov .
 Follow-up with Sadie Hopper in Financial Aid to verify eligibility and to apply for a Student Loans or

Payment Arrangements
Welding Specialists must make a NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT AND complete a My Pay, My Way payment plan to secure
a spot in the Certificate of Welding Specialist program:
1. Non-refundable Deposit due by the posted deadline: NO EXCEPTIONS, NO REFUNDS. $100 for students
planning to pay tuition out-of-pocket; $100 for those receiving financial aid or other assistance.
2. My Payment Plan Agreement: Enroll in the My Payment Plan program online to make payment arrangements
NO LATER than the established deadline. *Note: It is best to complete plan immediately after paying your
deposit.
Failure to meet these requirements by the deadlines will result in disenrollment from the Certificate of Welding
Specialist program. Please check with the Cashier at 447-4827 for respective deadlines and payment plan details.

OTC offers two concurrent Certificate of Welding Specialist programs per year. The fall program begins the first week of
August. The spring program begins the first week of January.
